Heinz Kerry helps Democrats raise $1M at Phoenix event

Mike Sunnucks

The Business Journal

Arizona Democrats raked in more than $1 million Wednesday night at a fund-raiser headlined by Teresa Heinz Kerry.

Heinz Kerry criticized the Bush administration on tax cuts, Iraq and the war on terrorism at the event, which was held at the Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa.

In regard to the hunt for terror leader Osama Bin Laden, Heinz Kerry said she could see the al-Qaida chief being caught before the November election.

"I wouldn't be surprised if he appeared in the next month," said Heinz Kerry, alluding to a possible capture by United States and allied forces before election day.

4. I see your 500 and raise you 500
I'll pay $1,000.00 to see and hear her. She speaks her mind and I loved it when she call republicans idiots for voting against her husband John Kerry.

10. You heard it wrong. She said anyone who didn't want the same healthcare
opportunity as Congress receives would have to be an idiot.

I guess people CHANGE other people's words UNTHINKINGLY if it makes them feel better about themselves. Typical self-glorification...it's the Republican way.

11. Bounce your retake off of the facts
Teresa Heinz Kerry says "only an idiot" would fail to support the health care plan proposed by her husband, Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry.

"Only an idiot wouldn't like this," Heinz Kerry told the newspaper for a story in its Thursday editions. "Of course, there are idiots."

12. The SAME healthcare that Congress has. That's the Kerry healthcare plan.
Edited on Thu Sep-23-04 07:43 PM by blm
No Republican congressman voted against their own health plan, did they? Did any of them refuse it?

You just don't think EVERY American can have the same access to it, right?

I suppose I have a better record of comprehension. I know Kerry's health plan, for starters. The reporter didn't really bother to explain it.

Something tells me that if I needed a liver a Senator would get it long before I even had a chance to hear about it.

5. (Slightly off topic) There was a story in my local paper
today: http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/H/HEINZ_ELECTION?SITE=ININS&SECTION=HOME

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) -- Is putting Heinz ketchup on a burger tantamount to supporting John Kerry for president?

An upstate New York lawmaker apparently thinks so.

Republican state Assemblyman Jim Tedisco recently told the crowd at a GOP cookout in Saratoga County that using Heinz ketchup would benefit Kerry's presidential campaign.

The Democratic senator from Massachusetts is married to Teresa Heinz Kerry, whose late husband was a descendant of the condiment giant's founder ....

Don't any of these morons remember that she was previously married to, and was - herself, a Republican ?!? Good God they're shortsighted and stupid !!

28. In Fort Collins, 1700 people greeted her...!
...was in one of the ballrooms of the Lory Student Center, preceded by political luminaries, then Nina Storey with two songs, and THK took the stage at 5 pm, spoke for nearly an hour.

She'd been in Pueblo, Co earlier in the day, and Las Cruces, NM the day before.

Very nice!

13. Went to hear her speak
earlier yesterday in Sun City West! There were thousands of old folks lined up to get in. They all seemed to be in a great mood and were they ever bashing Bush* as they waited. We all had a great time! And we didn't have to sign any "loyalty oath."

Teresa is a wonderful person. She comes across as very genuine and that she really cares - about people! She explained Kerry's health care plan, stand on Social Security (which he won't privatize) and bashed Bush* about the medicare bill, the announcement of the increase in medicare premiums the day after the RNC ended, tax cuts for people who have her level of wealth and the mess in Iraq.

I'm glad I ditched work to go see her. Told my boss first thing this am where I went and it was OK with him. He's working hard himself to turn his business associates into Kerry voters! We're going to shock the shyte out of Rove and win Arizona.

23. Fine, call them "Coincidence Theories" then...
I think it is smart to have Theresa comment on somthing that many average Amercians are wondering about.

Many average Americans on the street joke about the possibility that "Bush is going to bring out Bin Laden before the election..."

(actually I just realized it was the day after, but I digress)

She is a very sharp and forthright woman, she'd make a GREAT first lady. she'd restore some dignity to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

Just say NO to Stepford Wives.

18. I like Teresa Heinz-Kerry for the same reasons I like Howard Dean...
She says what all Democrats are thinking but Democratic leaders are too afraid to say.

Speaking several languages doesn't hurt either. ;)

27. She is not the candidate and speaks only for herself.
What gives the spouse of a candidate the right to pronounce on matters of public policy? Nothing.

If Hillary every runs for President, Bill should STFU during her campaign. Just sign autographs and smile.

22. I'm glad she said this. Even nonpolitical people joke about thepossibility
It is extremely smart for DEMS to pre-empt an October suprise- most regular people (swing voters?) know it is a possibility- hasnt everyone heard even non-politcal people joke about the possibility?

What is Bush/media gonna do? REPEAT the talking point? I sure hope so.

Even if it never happens-I dont really see how it could hurt to talk about the possibility...

"Osama on Ice!!!"
