Salmond blasts Blair 'lies' over Iraq war
http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/hi/news/5030934.html

TONY Blair was today accused by the SNP (Scottish National Party) leader of lying over the reasons for war with Iraq.
...
He said: "This is not a question of this Prime Minister making a judgment call and just being wrong," he said.
"It is not a matter of someone acting in good faith and making an honest mistake.
"This is a man who buried the information that was inconvenient, manipulated the intelligence that was convenient, and entered into a secret pact with the American president to go to war - come what may."

Good - the SNP could potentially take seats from Labour in Scotland.

I like this bit:
"Blair once said that he would be prepared to pay the blood price for standing shoulder to shoulder with the United States of America

But he hasn’t paid the blood price

14,000 Iraqis, more than 1000 Americans, 66 British soldiers, 69 from other countries, hostages - these are the people who have paid and are still paying Blair’s blood price

Nor has he stood shoulder to shoulder.

Most of the time he has been on his knees.

He has cosied up to the American president, thumbs in the gunbelt down at the ranch -

The sheriff and his sidekick - the Lone Ranger and Tonto.

But George W. Bush is not America no more than Tony Blair speaks for Scotland".

Later, interviewed on Channel 4 News, Salmond was asked whether Blair was liar. "Yes" was the answer.
So there are now just 2 possibilities:
a) Blair sues for slander and wins
b) Blair is a liar.

Don't expect a court case anytime soon.

8.  Alex Salmond today repeated his claim
He declared: “Let me make it clear – that I believe the Prime Minister misled, I believe he deceived, I believe he exaggerated, I believe he suppressed and manipulated evidence.

“I believe he lied to the country and to Parliament over both the reasons and the circumstances of going to war in Iraq.

“I believe he had a prior arrangement with President Bush and that prior arrangement then dictated that he would go to war and take this country to war come what may.

“If Downing Street are worrying about me saying that Mr Blair lied his way to war, too bad – I’m saying what I know the vast, vast majority of people throughout this country believe, and I’ll continue to say it.”

10. Someone ask for me?
I'm not a big fan of the nationalist parties in the UK and I'm not surprised this statement came from of them.

Also, what do you want? Blair stayed out of Iraq, the US would have fucked up the ENTIRE country, and not just the half the US controls.

Notice as well that Blair tried to save that British guy's life, but the US got in the way.

Another thing that is perfectly obvious to me is that if there were total chaos in Iraq, Euroep and the UK would be totally fucked by energy costs.

See how Schroeder's party got hurt in the last election because of the economic malaise? Schroeder stood up to Bush. Doesn't mean a thing. Liberal politicians lose to fascist politicians in exactly the kind of situation Bush was trying create and that Blair is trying to prevent by getting involved in Iraq. He's trying to prevent Bush from having his hands around the throat of European economic development.

It's short term bad, but a long term move to stop fascism from sweeping Europe.

Blair's first obligation is to stop fascism from sweeping the UK. His second obligation is to stop it from sweeping Europe. His third obligation is to stop it froms sweeping the middle east. He's behaved with exactly that order of priorities.
