Official: Iraq Elections Are Open to All
By GEORGE GEDDA, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - The No. 2 official at the State Department said Friday that the elections planned for January in Iraq (news - web sites) must be "open to all citizens," contradicting Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld who has suggested that voting might not be possible in the more-violent areas.

2. Hmmm...
... interesting to know that the announcement (therefore, presumably the decision) comes from the U.S., instead of Iraq. Just more grist for Arabic-language news mill on who really runs Iraq.

As it is, that statement ought to be modified to read "open to all citizens with the firepower to make it through to the polling station."

7. Nader might do better than...
... Allawi, since he's of Arab descent, and Iraqis might figure that since almost everyone in the U.S. dislikes him, he must be doing something right. :)

13. Elections "open to all citizens,"
Edited on Fri Sep-24-04 06:15 PM by Dangerman
And Pamela Anderson's hair is THAT blond.

The candidates they will vote for maybe "Pro-American". If Iraq were TRULY free, they will be voting an ANTI-American Muslim fundamentalist Al-Qeada-supporting Osama-lover.

Am I not wrong?
