Laura Bush Speaks To Arab World
From CBSnews:

First Lady Laura Bush gave a rare interview to a pan-Arab satellite TV station.

(AP) U.S. First Lady Laura Bush took her husband's message directly to the Arab world Friday, saying in a rare interview with a pan-Arab satellite TV station that America supports the Arabs' pursuit of democracy.

"The people in the Middle East must realize that the United States and the American people support them and are working to build (for them) a free society, a society in which human rights are respected and governments respect their citizens' rights," Mrs. Bush said in the interview with the popular, Dubai-based Al-Arabiya.

The interview, conducted in the United States, was broadcast with an Arabic voice-over and the comments were translated into English by The Associated Press.

Laura Bush, who has been traveling around the United States speaking for President George W. Bush and attending political rallies in the run up to the presidential elections, said Arab women should also know that women in America "support and deeply appreciate them."

If Bush is re-elected in November, Mrs. Bush said the president will "continue to stand with the people of the Middle East as (they) try to build democracies in their countries."

"He will continue to stand by the Iraqi people and the people of Afghanistan. We will work to achieve peace. This is what we want," she said.

Mrs. Bush, a former teacher and school librarian, said that she had no wish to pursue a political career once she is no longer first lady and would rather continue her work as a teacher.

12. Bios say she taught '68-'73, then became a librarian.
So I was being generous - she was in the classroom last in '73, then a librarian until '77 when she married Chimpie.

What, is she some kind of elected official now? STFU, stupid librarian. If you're so damn intent on teaching something, teach your retarded husband some basic math skill and some common english.

7. No wonder Bush is so...
... goddamned stupid. It rubs off on him from Laura in bed at night.

Or, maybe, it's the other way around. Who knows?

"... continue her work as a teacher." ??? Teaching and library work combined, she's had a total of perhaps three years' experience, and hasn't done anything professional in almost thirty years.

I'm beginning to think that introduction to the Bush family requires one to change one's middle name to "Bullshit."

8. i dunno. laura's a pretty good asset to bushco. she's the only one who
even remotely seems like she might be telling the truth, at least as she understands it. i think she's been completely duped. i wonder how she'd feel if she really knew the truth... she is like one of those mafia wives who have never wanted to know anything about what's really going on and has kept up the pretense so long that she's comfortable watching the parade of lies go by and smiling at her georgie's smirking face while his soul festers, black and bubbling beneath the surface.

13. must realize? MUST REALIZE??

"The people in the Middle East must realize that the United States and the American people support them and are working to build (for them) a free society, a society in which human rights are respected and governments respect their citizens' rights," Mrs. Bush said in the interview with the popular, Dubai-based Al-Arabiya.

In other words, "Be saved or we'll kill you".

15. I can't believe how often I've defended her, thinking that First Ladies
should be fairly off limits. I certainly think the treatment of Hillary was appalling.

But, the gloves are off. Laura Bush is a disgusting enabler for this corrupt administration. She doees not deserve the "respectful" treatment she's been given. In her case a full burkha seems reasonable.

17. Since when does this air head speak for the women of the US?
Edited on Fri Sep-24-04 07:27 PM by Marianne
There is no excuse for this woman. I saw it coming long ago and now we have the manufactured Laura, the ambassador, the member of the cabinet, speaking for us and all women in the US. She sits in on no meetings, is not a participant in anything having to do with policy, is not privvy to any of it and has, imo, not a clue about any of it. Yet she has been manufactured and loves it you can be sure, and yet we see her assuming this role of practically the same as Condi Rice, the national security advisor! It has all been carefully scripted since the beginning. She is as much a phoney as her murderous husband--continue teaching indeed. She has not done a damn thing for the past thirty years but look out for her own welfare. She is also an actor on this mad stage, and she does so willingly and never mind making excuses any longer. She is a frumpy, Stepford wife who has willingly gone along with her manufactured image and she does indeed, enjoy it.

Here is our first lady frump o lump. Can someone please send her a mirror , a bra,a well fitting suit, and some shampoo and a good hairstylist--and she is taking on the task of ambassador?

Well defend her if you like--a vote for Laura is a vote for George

Just like Laura her few years of teaching elementary school did not a teacher make.

She sounds like George with statement that he was a fighter pilot.

This family really lives in la-la land.

"Arab women should also know that women in America "support and deeply appreciate them."

She is only addressing ARAB women? Stupid! Hey Karl, Hey Laura; they're not all Arab.

Yeah, they deeply appreciate them by killing them off country by country and by never mentioning the word PEACE or TRUCE.

Every speech or press conference appreciate or understand gets used multiple times. That's been bugging me for years, especially when the idiot in chief says it. "Ah unnerstand" "Ah appreshiate" :puke:
