Tot boiled but lives; man held
Sad, horrible story from Bridgeport, CT

A city man dipped his girlfriend's 2-year-old daughter into boiling water and slammed her with a hot iron when she wouldn't stop crying, police said Friday.

Travis Bush, 20, of Cowles Street, is charged with second-degree assault, risk of injury to a minor and first-degree reckless endangerment.

<snip>

A large contingent of Bush's relatives and friends booed and yelled catcalls as Assistant State's Attorney Susan Filan attempted to describe the case to the judge. They were brought under control by judicial marshals.

"The facts of this case are horrible. This man took his anger out on an innocent little child unable to defend herself, dipping her in boiling water," she told the judge. She urged him to set a high bond.

<snip>

Why do I get the feeling that this guy might not have a problem running for public office when he is no longer "young and irresponsible"?

Tut-tut

1. His relatives are as sick as he is
If they're booing the prosecutor like that in support of what this guy did. No wonder the guy turned out to be such a creep. Figures his last name is Bush too.

4. He will be destroyed in jail.
Even hardened criminals don't look too kindly on child abusers.

6. Sounds like attemp. murder to me.
Should be indicted for attemp. murder, assault with a deadly with intent to do bodily harm, and child abuse.

He will be destroyed in jail, but deserves to be shot in the back of the head.

There is not a lot I hate but people who abuse kids are one. I hope Dante's imagination was stunted.

He'll be lucky to make it out of prison alive. Ten to one, someone gets rid of him while he's behind bars.

Which brings me to a related topic. I don't mean to hijack this thread, but shouldn't our prisons be a bit safer? We don't throw people in there to be killed (unless they've received a death sentence from a jury), raped, OR beaten- but it happens and people turn a blind eye. Years later, some of these same people get let out, and after being forced into a survival mindset for a long time, well, just exactly how is that good for society?

I think we need to take a close look at our prison system, at how people are "taught their lesson" about their crimes while behind bars.

Something tells me we're going about it all wrong.

8. Another sadistic branch of the Bush family tree?
A contingent of sadistic Bush brutes from Bridgeport, CT? Sounds like George's cousins just expressing the Bush family values.

9. I wondered about that myself
Is this guy any relation? Not that it matters, other than as fruit of a poisonous tree.

Ask any big city DA or plastic surgeon. Easy to prosecute, too.
