Kerry on Friday said Iraq has become a haven for terrorists since the war, and he offered a detailed strategy to contain terrorism while drawing a sharp distinction between his and Bush's views on national security.
"The invasion of Iraq was a profound diversion from the battle against our greatest enemy, al-Qaida," Kerry said in a speech at Temple University. "There's just no question about it. The president's misjudgment, miscalculation and mismanagement of the war in Iraq all make the war on terror harder to win."
Allawi said on Thursday that elections could be held in 15 of 18 Iraqi provinces, which excludes three populous areas in regions loyal to Saddam Hussein.
Bush's comments indicated his eagerness to confront Kerry on the issue the Democrat has sought to make his campaign centerpiece. While Kerry charges Iraq is a quagmire born of U.S. arrogance, Bush casts it as a test of leadership.
........ a Tidbit of information I picked up from a pentagon reporter last night. Asking a US Military person how likely it would be to have 15 provinces ready for elections he had a two word answer... No Way! He said at the very best perhaps 9 or 10 but even that is unlikely. More lies!!
