The Prime Minister was today accused of hypocrisy for refusing to negotiate the freedom of hostage Kenneth Bigley. The charge was levelled by Robert Kilroy-Silk, UKIP MEP for the East Midlands and a former Labour MP for Merseyside in a letter to Mr Blair.
He calls for an explanation for the Prime Minister’s refusal to negotiate and goes on: “It clearly cannot be a matter of principle because you have negotiated with terrorists throughout your premiership and done deals with them, given them concessions, appeased them.
“You have shaken the blood stained hands of terrorist financiers and supporters like Colonel Gaddafi, you suck up to the terrorist-supporting Iranians, you court the terrorist-financing Syrians and flatter the evil Yasser Arafat.
“While you don’t see fit to save Kenneth Bigley’s life you have no problem with shaking hands with IRA/Sinn Fein leaders and entertaining them at Downing Street.“I do not believe that we should ever negotiate with terrorists. I do not believe that we should pay ransom, but then I would not have done deals with any of the above.“
