<snip>
The strikes in Fallujah targeted two buildings where militants were allegedly meeting and a cluster of rebel-built fortifications used to mount attacks on nearby Marine positions, the U.S. military said. Doctors said 16 people were killed and 37 wounded.

Several explosions rocked the Iraqi capital late Saturday, but it was not immediately clear what caused the blasts. The military had no immediate comment

In Fallujah, explosions lit up the night sky for hours before dawn Saturday and at least two buildings in the city center were wrecked, witnesses said. The Fallujah mosque switched on its loudspeakers and clerics chanted prayers to rally the city's residents. Doctors said eight people were killed and 15 wounded.

Explosions rocked the city again after dark Saturday. Eight people were killed and 22 injured in the blasts, said Dr. Ahmed Khalil at Fallujah General Hospital. The U.S. military could not immediately be reached for comment on the blasts.

Quick... one of those terrists is getting away...

An Iraqi man screams as he carries his wounded son, following a U.S. army bombardment in the town of Falluja, early morning on September 25, 2004. U.S. aircraft launched air strikes on targets in the rebel-held Iraqi city of Falluja, and local doctors said at least seven people were killed and 13 wounded, including women and children. The U.S. military said it had carried out a 'precision strike' on a building where supporters of Jordanian militant Abu Musab al-Zarqawi were believed to be meeting. (Mohammed Khodor/Reuters)

3. Maybe a few terrorists were killed. Maybe.
But a lot of innocents were probably also killed, thus making more terrorists and insurgents who will seek revenge against the US.

7. How many times
did they bomb buildings during the invasion, and completely miss the target? Its a horrible strategy to use in a guerrilla war.

I am not upset because of your post. I am upset because of this shit we are doing in Iraq that is not solving the problem.

4. How do we know this place had anything to do with terrorists?
We read this headline over and over again, but given the total disregard for intelligence demonstrated by Bush over and over again (just recently he said they were "guessing"), why should we believe this building had anything to do with terrorists?

I think they're just making it all up.

9. My point exactly.
Even going as far back as the "Baby Milk Factory", which I believe did in fact turn out to have been just that.

10. Every time I think about how uninformed Americans are...
...I remember that the rest of the world, and especially the Iraqi people, know exactly what's going on.

I'm starting to think that we will only be stopped by the rest of the world - or by our own overstretch. All empires fall, and so will we.

And we will deserve it.

Damn the Imperials all to Hell, if it exists.

11. I knew - most of us knew - the occupation would be a disaster. But
I didn't think it would be this disastrous, this early. Did you?

And here's some fucking awful truth: this still is early days.

13. Maybe a retaliatory strike for the beheadings?
Which were themselves retaliation for an earlier American attack. Bush started a spiral into Hell.

"In a statement released on the Internet, al-Zarqawi's Tawhid and Jihad group said the death of its spiritual leader in a U.S. missile strike earlier this month had only increased its determination to fight the United States and its allies in Iraq (news - web sites).

The statement said the beheading of two American hostages last week was proof that the group's campaign was not affected by the killing of Sheik Abu Anas al-Shami, apparently when a U.S. missile hit his car in a western Baghdad suburb Sept. 17.

"The beheading of the two Americans was our first signal that we will continue and will not be deterred," said the statement, which was posted on a Web site known for carrying communiques from Islamic militants."
