Obama: Gay Marriage Unchristian
http://www.365gay.com/newscon04/09/092604obama.htm

Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Barack Obama says that his Christian beliefs dictate that marriage should be between a man and a woman, although he supports civil unions that give legal rights to gay and lesbian couples.

Republican candidate Alan Keyes accused Obama of trying to have it both ways on the issue.
"I think what we are seeing on this issue is deceit," said Keyes, who has made his opposition to gay marriage a cornerstone of his campaign. "He is deceiving the voters."

hate to admit it, but I agree with Alan Keyes. I'm so glad Obama is willing to throw us a few crumbs. People like this are the reason I'm considering switching my party registration. Why should I support a party that won't support me?

2. Hope he wins, but he'll have to do it w/out my $$$
I won't contribute to people placating the Reichwing. Not only that, but as a black man, one would think he'd have a little more empathy for groups placed in the 2nd class category. Grrr

5. Yep, and he's being stupid too.
He's at 68%! He does not need to bring this up. There's one thing to have a wedge issue sprung on you, it's another to walk into it with open arms...

I knew of more then a couple politicians who aren't "for gay marriage" but gladly accept civil unions with equal status.

8. Please don't leave!
At least give Obama credit for being honest? His statement doesn't sound deceitful to me. He's telling us what he believes.

Out of curiosity, what party would you switch to?

9. well, he does support you
he supports civil unions.

His religious beliefs say marriage is between a man and a woman, yet he is open enough to say that you should be able to have a civil union.

So whats your problem? You seem to expect him to change his religious beliefs in order to get your vote, seems to me you should be satisfied that he doesnt try to foist his religious beliefs onto your life.

Thats ALL that can be asked of anyone.
