DeLay: GOP Keeps Its Promises
WASHINGTON, Sept. 27 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The following statement by Majority Leader Tom DeLay appeared in USA TODAY:

It has been a decade since the Republican Party took control of Congress.

In those first 10 years, we made many gains based on our priorities of security, prosperity and family. Millions have moved from welfare to work. We cut taxes four times and passed tax relief in the House every year we have been in the majority. The economy has grown by 69 percent, and national security has been restored to its rightful position atop the national agenda. We have done what we promised to do.

And that's just the beginning.

-- In the past decade, Republicans have passed tax relief. In the next decade, we will pass comprehensive national tax reform.

-- In the past decade, Republicans have acted to preserve our health care and retirement systems for the Greatest Generation. In the next decade, we will act to fundamentally reimagine those systems for the next generation. It will include expanded health savings accounts, association health plans and personal Social Security retirement accounts for younger Americans.

-- In the past decade, Republicans have taken steps to help small businesses invest, grow and succeed. In the next decade, we will pass sweeping lawsuit-abuse reform and universal regulatory reform to get predatory lawyers and busybody bureaucrats off small businesses' backs once and for all.

-- In the past decade, Republicans have helped American families heal the wounds inflicted by a cynical culture of death. In the next decade, we will join America's armies of compassion and work to cultivate our nation's emerging culture of life, by ending government discrimination against faith-based organizations, protecting the family and the noble role of faith in the public square.

5. Security? The Republican Congress brought us 9/11, plain and simple
They diverted the nation's attention to Monicagate, cause major distractions for a sitting President and his cabinet, and were AWOL on Congressional oversight...which may have stregthened our hand against Al-qaida and at least kept intel on its toes.

7. Does this guy live in the same country as we do?
Ask all those people who are looking for work what they think about such a rosey picture of our economy. Where do these people come up with this stuff? We are fast becoming a country of the "haves" and the "have nots". The latter is far greater than the former.

9. Since he means "privatization" I wish
he'd just say it. "Reimagining?" "Personal Savings Accounts?" He makes it sound so warm and fuzzy. And "cynical culture of death?" What the f*** does THAT mean?
