NY Dem leader calls Bush ``simple''
ALBANY, N.Y. -- New York's state Democratic Party chairman derided President Bush on Monday as "simple" and "that simplistic gentleman up there in the White House with his one- and two-syllable answers."

The attack from state Assemblyman Herman Farrell came as New York's Democratic leadership gathered to discuss how to rally rank-and-file party members.

"Life is not simple. If it were simple, anybody could be president," Farrell said in a speech to members of the party's state committee. "As a matter of fact, simple is president."

1. Some other great quotes from the article:
"Real leaders are not fabricated by spin doctors and media moguls. ... They are not merely talking heads spewing empty promises," Silver said.

"The Bush-Pataki Republicans are aristocrats," the Assembly leader said. "To them, working men and women exist to pull their political coaches."

"We have never seen a party do so much for so few, who need so little," added state Attorney General Eliot Spitzer, a Democrat eyeing a possible run for governor in 2006.

if it weren't for terrah..shrubya would not have a job.

His approval rating would be 15%. He could have stayed in Crawford 24/7 and had as much positive impact on the nation. He is an opportunist, a charlatan, a carney and belongs in a rogues gallery. The way he is attacking a good man like John Kerry is a testament to what he is really all about. Power is all that matters to him and his henchmen, who has it and who doesn't. He certainly didn't earn it... the supreme court stole it and gave it to him.

Had the voting in 2000 taken place legally and properly, Gore would be in the W.H. right now. Semptmember 11 would be remembered as the day the terrorists tried to board jetliners and do us harm. They most likely would have been stopped short. The towers would most likely still be standing, and close to 1100 of our servicemen and women would still be with their families.

Al Qaida was job #1 for the former administration. They told the incoming misadministration that it would be their job #1 as well. It was anything but.... it was dead last on the list.

Gore was familiar with the seriousness of the threat and was part of the machinery that thwarted several attacks in the 90's. There is no reason to think that had the election not been rigged and he was inaugurated, that he would drop the issue of Al Qaida upon entering the W.H. This is an alternate reality that we all might have shared in had our system not been corrupt, our democracy diminished.

This reality is something we all would love to have been a part of instead of the nightmarish last 4 years of mindless rhetoric and broken promises. I hope the next four years resemble the alternate reality I have envisioned the last four could have been. Anything less will have me wanting to change country of residence. Anything less will be something too hard for the nation to endure. America doesn't deserve anything less than an alternate reality in the next four years.

7. George is playing everyone who believes him for a sucker.
There is one born every minute, and the United States seems to have a preponderance of them. I hope more of them begin to wise up soon. He turns that folksy John Wayne, sound bite talk on just to draw in the rubes. He's from the east coast for crying out loud. And, while not intelligent in a thoughtful, scholarly way, he is a clever little street fighter.

Don't underestimate him.

11. Herman "Denny" Farrell nails it as usual.
Farrell's known in these parts (NYC) for his plain-spokenness -- New Yawwk plain f$#@ing spokenness as opposed to Crawford "Is our children learning?" plain spokenization.

12. Worth repeating indeed
"We have never seen a party do so much for so few, who need so little," added state Attorney General Eliot Spitzer..."

That is so freaking perfect. Isn't there something especially satisfying about the truth when it hits you square between the eyes like that?
