Keyes silent on gay daughter rumor

Chicago, IL, Sep. 28 (UPI) -- Republican Illinois U.S. Senate candidate Alan Keyes, a conservative who opposes gay lifestyles, is refusing comment on an Internet rumor his daughter is gay.

The outspoken conservative talk show host declined to answer questions on whether his 19-year-old daughter had posted details of her homosexual relationship with another young woman on her Web blog.

Politics1, a political Web site, posted a story and a picture of Maya Keyes with a woman identified as her lesbian girlfriend. Keyes is staunchly anti-gay and told a New York radio talk show all gays were living in sin and were "selfish hedonists," including by definition Mary Cheney, the openly lesbian daughter of Vice President Dick Cheney.

Keyes and his daughter attended a town-hall meeting at a church on Chicago's South Side Monday night, but neither responded to reporters questions, the Illinois Leader, a conservative Web site said.

There's a lot of it about as they say. But there is something curious and amusing about the number of RWers with gay offspring/ relatives - Mosbacher, Gingrich, Schafly, Cheney, Keyes etc.

Look - if God can send hurricanes to tear up Bush voting counties in Florida (nonsense of course but believed some some extreme right wingers) she can certainly send lesbians and gays into a homophobe households.(or perhaps, more to the point it is OUT - not closeted - lesbians / gays into the family.)

21. Patton Oswalt does a pretty funny bit about this phenomenon

He says that strict/conservative parents tend to raise children that are more fun and less uptight about things because kids tend to rebel against what their parents are.

The problem, he says, is that the reverse is true and that kids with hippy/liberal parents tend to grow up into asshole disciplinarians because they didn't get the typical conservative parent experience.

It's a pretty funny routine actually.

was to embarress Obama. Turn his election victory into a big joke.

Barak Obama was going to beat Jack Ryan by 20 points. That's what polls showed BEFORE the sex scandal. That was going to be a great victory. When he dropped out Joe Scarborough immediately began rewriting history by saying (when Ryan was on his show) "You had a great chance of winning this election before all this stuff happened"

It was, of course, a blatant lie. But the GOP wanted to rewrite history and deny the facts. Kind of like they did after 92 when they made up all that crap about Perot costing Bush the election, even though all the polls showed he hurt both candidates equally (and until Election Day itself he had always been hurting Clinton more, like the way he did in 96). But they told the lie again and again until finally most people believed it and stated it as uncontroversial fact.

I am disgusted that Keyes is Obama's opponent, I honestly believe that the only reason the GOP did it was to turn the entire election for that Senate seat into a big joke.
