NEW YORK - The mothers of four boys are suing New York City schools because their sons were stripped searched by an aide who was looking for a missing ring.
The fourth grade boys were in a gym class at PS 186-X in the Bronx last April 2 when they were taken to another room by a male aide or ordered them to take off their clothes. The aide was looking for a ring that was missing from a female teacher.
The federal lawsuit filed by the mothers said the boys were told they would arrested if they didn't strip. The lawsuit names the aide -- Julio Pizzaro and the city Education Department.
The parents said their children were intimidated by threats.
"He told me, 'Mom, I'm embarrassed
afraid,' " said one mother, whose first name is Annette.
Strip searches are against Department of Education regulations.
