Dole may seek high-profile GOP post
Dole may seek high-profile GOP post

Associated Press

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Dole, already tapped by President Bush to help him attract women voters, may add another credential to her national profile: chairwoman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

"Members have approached her," said Brian Nick, Dole's communications director. "It is certainly something she would consider."

He added that Dole would not seek the post if it would hinder her ability to tend to North Carolina's needs.

The main responsibility of the job is to recruit strong candidates to run for vacant Senate seats or against vulnerable incumbent Democrats. The term lasts two years and must be filled by a sitting senator who is not facing a re-election campaign.

4. I say she should do it. She already neglects NC...
That is, except for the construction/highway improvements that mysteriously popped up in her home town shortly after she became a member of the senate in 2002.

Go Liddy, go! (away from NC.)
