Woman Drives Car into Boise Airport
A Boise Airport visitor returned her rental car to the airport car-rental counter Tuesday — by driving into the terminal.

A "confused senior citizen," whose name and age were not released, followed an outside "terminal access" sign as she bumped her rented minivan through a set of automatic-opening double-doors on the west end and through the terminal, past the baggage claim area to the rotunda, airport spokeswoman Larissa Stouffer said.

The woman stopped when she reached the rental-car counter.

"The lucky thing is she didn't hit anything," Stouffer said.

8. You would think....
After seeing this "confused senior citizen" exhibit such odd behavior shouldn't someone have stopped her to make sure she is ok?...I'm sure she meant no harm in what she did but still, what kind of security personal would just let a person that is showing signs of some form of dementia just board a plane?...she can't understand where to leave a car but she is all of a sudden competent enough to travel?

I just hope she got to where she was going ok....unless where she was going in her mind was to see her husband off as he is being shipped out to fight in Europe against Hitler and the Nazis.

12. this isn't dementia, I've done very close to this
I guess people who are not geographically dyslexic honestly don't understand how confusing it is to return rental cars in some airports. It could very well be that there is not a thing wrong with the woman except some momentary confusion and she took a wrong turn. I do it all the time. Haven't killed anyone yet. I don't remember the Boise airport, someone else dropped me off there, but it's pretty clear from the article that it was a poor lay-out and NOT the fault of the woman -- who was not cited because anyone would be confused. I don't think they should have even mentioned that she was a senior citizen, it is rude and unnecessary, when the cause of her confusion was that bad signage and improperly barricaded door. She followed the rental car company signs and she got the car to the rental car counter and if that is not what they meant for her to do, they need to fix the durn door, which they have apparently been "meaning to" barricade for some time but just never bothered.

My take on it anyway.

(it's a joke - the old B-52's song - )

You're livin in your own Private Idaho. Idaho.
You're out of control, the rivers that roll,
you fell into the water and down to Idaho.
Get out of that state,
get out of that state you're in.
You better beware.
You're living in your own Private Idaho.

14. I fly in and out of BOI all the time
Believe me, this would be the equivalent of driving a minivan through the front doors of your average shopping mall, cruising past the shops (dodging potted plants, fountains, and bag-carrying shoppers all the way), and pulling up at the cash register of the GAP.

10. A few years ago I flew a trip from RSW (Ft. Myers) to LGA (New York).
As we crossed over Orlando, a flight attendant came into the cockpit and said that an elderly gentleman passenger had just told her that he thought he might have left his car, engine running, at the curb in front of the terminal where he unloaded his bags. I sent a message through my dispatcher to the station manager at RSW. A few minutes later I got a message from dispatch saying that the RSW station manager found the old fellow's car, engine still running, at the front of the terminal. The station manager drove the car to the parking lot, locked it up, and put the keys in a safe place for the gentleman's return a couple of weeks later.
