What Do Women Want in a Presidential Candidate?
Edited on Thu Sep-30-04 01:11 PM by RedEarth
LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. (Reuters) - Tammy Hough is a life-long Republican, a socially conservative stay-at-home mother and a woman who puts American security as a top priority, so many pundits see her vote as an easy one for President Bush (news - web sites). But she's not so sure.

Even though she voted for Bush four years ago and finds little compelling about Democratic contender John Kerry (news - web sites), the 37-year-old Hough has doubts this time round.

"Usually I vote Republican but this election I'm really torn," Hough said, one arm encircling her 2-year-old son during a break from browsing at a bookstore in Lee's Summit not far from Kansas City.

Fears about terrorism, the war in Iraq (news - web sites) that could eventually involve one or more of her four children and a shaky economy are key factors in Hough's quandary.

"I just want somebody to come in and say 'this is what we're going to do,"' give us a clear plan for the country," she said.

1. Here is the opening that has to be better exploited:
'"I just want somebody to come in and say 'this is what we're going to do,"' give us a clear plan for the country," she said.' I know people say that Kerry has been doing this - well, he has to do it better and louder and more non-stop. This should be what he hammers home everyday, all day till the election; "This is what we must do and this is how I'll do it."

2. Wrap your Babies in Gold and Hide them!
Georgie Porgie has made such a mess of our reputation in the world I'm afraid if we don't replace him, soon we won't have enough babies left to defend OUR Country.

4. Do "security moms" realize
their fearful paranoia means spilling the blood of their own children as cannon fodder? They have to realize the * administration is a greater threat to their families than Terra. Four more years of * DOES mean four more wars. "Security moms" have to be told that in four years, dear little Kevin in Jr. High will be 18, and drafted to fight Iran, Syria, North Korea or whoever the psychos deem a "threat". Why doesn't this scare the bejeezus out of them?

8. Because they figure "that" can't happen to "them"-war is for poor people
These morons think that because they live in the burbs and can lease an SUV that their kids won't have to go.

They are so fucking STUPID that they don't even realize that they

A) Are not the upper crust of society and are just "poor" working class slobs like the rest of the country in the eyes of the elite.

B) The fools think their kids will be spared by college, or Canada.

I am quite sure that the truly elite will still have ways out of service, but they will be the only ones.

In light of the Patriot Act no one is booking to Canada this time if there is a draft--the bushies have that locked.

I also agree that photo is pornographic lol

5. The Security Mom Myth
The Security Mom Myth
The idea of security moms profoundly misrepresents who women are and what they worry about politically.

By Anna Greenberg

http://www.alternet.org/story/20036/

Editor's Note: This report comes from Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research <http://www.greenbergresearch.com/campaigns_us/publications.php>, a public opinion and strategic research company.

In the past weeks, we have seen numerous articles and commentaries discussing John Kerry's problem with women. As the argument goes, Kerry is losing women and that this erosion is rooted in their deep-seeded concerns about security. Women simply trust George Bush more than Kerry to keep them safe and they drop off from Kerry as they are less confident he can handle the war on terrorism and homeland security. The fabled "security moms" lead this charge, as they worry about the safety of their children especially after being exposed to the images of terrorism in Russia and rising terrorist attacks around the world. These "key" women voters, it is said, want to hear more about security from Democrats and Kerry.

There are a number of problems with these arguments and they profoundly misrepresent who women are and what they worry about politically. Let me take each assertion in turn:

11. From "soccer moms" to sucker moms"
What is wrong with these people?

Here's what I want:

I want my government, which I support with my tax dollars, to stop killing kids who look just like my kids, to stop bombing people who look like me and my neighbors, to stop spending my taxes on murder when they could be spending it on life. That's all I want.

I can't take this anymore. My money is being used to kill children. What can I do about it?????!!!!!

12. Let's See

Baseline Requirements

1. I am miffed and completely torqued off if a presidential candidate has all the advantages of inherited wealth, race, class, societal connections and a penis but his behavior would be unworthy of picking up my garbage on Tuesday. If George Bush had his current personality and intellectual acumen and was born a poor white kid from Maine or a poor black kid from DC, he would probably be in jail or homeless. One reason I respected Bill Clinton, despite his painful personal failings was because he is very bright and extremely hardworking.

So you have to have a brain in your skull which you trot out and use once in a while. I also don't want to see your ass playing faux cowboy 6 months out of the year.

2. You can't be a crackhead and a boozehound with a bunch of DUIs at 40. At 40 my parents had six children, 2.5 jobs, a mortgage and a marriage to hold together. I do not want the president of the United States to be a person who thinks he is still a teenager when he is 40.

3. Try to tell the truth or at least don't look like you got your hand caught in your pants when you're lying.

4. Once in a blue moon, mention the cost of gas, the state of public education, and the evils of discrimination.
