Bush twin chose skin over Skull And Bones

No – I’m not making it up – it’s headline from a Hartford Courant article by Kim Martineau today that I’ve missed until now. Because the article is registration-restricted, I’ll reprint it here.

NEW HAVEN – Her dad was Skull and Bones. So was her grandfather and great-grandfather. By not joining Yale’s secret society, Barbara Bush broke with that tradition.

But she embraced another - the naked party.

<snip>

Naked parties are not orgies, not even close, despite their name, say those who attend. Stripped of clothing and other status markers, students are rendered equal. There’s more eye contact, less small talk. Everyone’s vulnerable.

“At most clothed parties, it’s more overt that people are hitting on each other - naked parties are actually less sexual,” one student was quoted as saying in a 1999 Yale Daily News story titled, “Nude Haven.”

**************
Good for her? Maybe she will shed some of the (inherited) ruler-of-the-world delusions along with her clothes..

13. are you sure?
I know S&B went coed in the 1980s. I hadn't heard that Kerry had anything to do with the change in membership. Interesting, if true.

7. A rape occurred at Yale following the party that Barbara attended
There may be more eye contract and less small talk, but it seems there's also a lot of heavy drinking, and in this case the combination led to the rape of an underclassman by a resident advisor. I really don't care of Barbara Bush attends these or not. I do get a little annoyed thinking about how the "liberal press" would treat Chelsea or one of the Kerry girls if this had been them, though, not to mention Bush's fundamentalist fans. Too bad Dr. Phil didn't address Barbara's extra-curricular activities on his show.

The plea deal is reported in today's Hartford Courant.

NEW HAVEN -- It began with an off-campus "naked party," an annual Yale University tradition with an "A-list" of invited guests including President Bush's daughter.

It ended with one student claiming she was drugged and sexually assaulted in her dorm room, and her assailant - another student who has since graduated - accepting a plea bargain just two days before he was to stand trial on rape charges.

--snip

The Pundits, one of Yale's senior societies, throw naked parties year round. But their springtime event is the largest and most exclusive: Only those with formal invitations are let in. Barbara Bush, a sophomore at the time, was among 50 or so guests.

23. The "liberal press" was all over Alex Kerry's dress at Cannes.
Remember that?

But a semi-transparent dress is worse than nudity, apparently.

8. I liked the following paragraph

"In the spring of 2002, Barbara Bush, then a sophomore, arrived at a house on Crown Street for the fun, according to at least two people who saw her there. Not known: the whereabouts of her Secret Service protection."

Where would they hide their weapons ? And I wonder if this wouldnt be above and beyond the call of duty.

Maybe they were trying to soften the effect of this news ahead of time. Scalia was trying to do his bit for his favorite appellant.

Dare I ask? Of course, we all know Bush's fundie friends would give him a free pass on it. Only bad if a democrat's kid does it. :eyes:

30. Nudity - the great leveller
There's no point in wearing a power-suit to a nude party. You have to leave it at the door.

Wonder how much her towel would get on Ebay?

;)

I bet that would piss daddy off a few weeks before the election. Naked pictures of his daughter on a "level playing field" with 3 or 4 Yale frat boys.

Seriously, where are all the "I did Barbara, huh huh huh" Yalies?
