US soldier killed in northern Iraq (Friday, #1068)
Edited on Fri Oct-08-04 10:08 AM by Barrett808
BAGHDAD (AFP) - A US soldier was killed and another wounded in an attack in northern Iraq, the military said.

"One Task Force Danger soldier was killed and another was wounded when anti-Iraqi forces attacked their patrol near Tuz on October 8 at about 11:43 am (0843 GMT)," a statement said, using the common military term for insurgents

Tuz, 60 kilometres (35 miles) south of Kirkuk, is home to Kurds, Arabs and Turkmen and has been rocked by ethnic violence.

The latest deaths bring to 1,062 the number of US troops killed in Iraq since last year's invasion.

The military earlier reported the attack, saying a roadside bomb had hit a US army convoy and wounded two soldiers.

3. Orwell would be proud
The article uses the phrase "anti-Iraqi forces," which I have seen before. Kinda reminds me of homicide bombers (and I hope it enjoys the same fate). Recast it becomes anti-Iraqi Iraqis. Would you like a croissant with your civil war?
