Clinton May Campaign For Kerry
Oct. 20, 2004
(CBS/AP) What a difference four years can make!
When Vice President Al Gore was facing down George W. Bush in Campaign 2000, he did his best to try to stand on his own - distancing himself from his boss, then-President Clinton.
That didn't work out too well.
Sen. John Kerry has been all too happy to accept the former president's help, and Clinton - despite recent heart surgery - appears glad to be in the thick of things, offering Kerry telephone advice and encouragement.
A senior Democratic official who is familiar with Clinton's plans says he intends to get back out on the campaign trail for Kerry, speaking early next week in Philadelphia.
