Rumsfeld says Fallujah isn't the final big battle for U-S troops
PENTAGON (AP) - Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld says don't expect the battle for Fallujah to be the last big clash between coalition troops and the insurgents in Iraq.

He says insurgents have to be routed from their safe havens and the U-S and Iraqi governments have made the joint decision to see this through.

Back in April, U-S Marines launched an assault on Fallujah but later halted the offensive. By most accounts, insurgents used the time between then and now to build up their arsenals and their popular support.

8. Tommy Franks on CNN
his talk was all about Korea!!!!! He was trying to draw parallels of course with Iraq.....how long the conflict lasted etc... he mentioned too that we still have troops in Korea. Is this the "plan"....and of course as long as we are at "war"....we can't speak out against the president.....Novak on Crossfire yesterday said it twice... in essence he said : we should be more patriotic because we are at war.....sounds like a talking point to me and what of Rove on Sunday with Russert talking about how long some stay in power 30 ,40, 50 years ....they make my skin crawl.

5. Yes, but Bush didn't say "big clashes" were over.
And the White House gang didn't have anything to do with the Mission Accomplished banner. Remember, this administration's reality is different from ours-

15. He said
"Major combat operations are over" Maybe you don't think 15,000 troops fighting to take a city of (normally) 300,000 people "major". I think it qualifies.

6. So when IS the 'big battle', ya stupid git?
How did this idiot manage to make it to where he is? For that matter, how did the rest of the civilian Bushbots in the Pentagon ever manage to avoid getting fired earlier in their career?

Is there some sort of 'idiot support network' that's secretly supports nosepicking, wanna-be war-gamers like Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz, and prevents them from getting fired? OH YEAH, it's called the Republican Party, I guess.

9. Of course the recruits will just flock to join up for this action.
Oh yeah, the younger generation of America is all about being stuck in a sand-flea infested combat quagmire. They will join up in masses for this action. Nope, no need for a draft. Maybe cloning, but no draft.

17. back when "mission accomplished" was stated we basically had
avoided all the cities and went straight to Baghdad. Sort of like a pretend war with pretend shock and awe. Yeah we really awed those insurgents.

If you think that some practical mid term election design will keep the Nazi Chimp from his God given Crusade of perpetual war, you haven't been paying attention.

26. We're going to be over there for a long, long time
As we go into the cities, they back out to fight again. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what's going on. I don't even believe our news anymore. Everything is this country has lost it's credibility.
