LA Governor's Program on Abstinence again under fire from ACLU
http://nola.com/newsflash/louisiana/index.ssf?/base/news-12/1100714046265101.xml&storylist=louisiana

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Louisiana's taxpayer-funded program to promote premarital sexual abstinence is under fire again from the American Civil Liberties Union, which claims the program continues to promote religion, in violation of a 2002 court settlement.

That settlement grew out of an ACLU lawsuit claiming that grants from the Gov.'s Program on Abstinence sometimes funded blatantly religious programs. This time, the ACLU is focusing not on the spending of grant money, but on the GPA's Web site.

1. Go ACLU!
I hate the concept of my taxpayer dollars going to fund 'private programs,' that really, in the end, are just prosletyzing efforts by some religious org. As a social worker, I saw pressure put on clients participating in these types of programs to 'join the church.' If a church is conducting abstinence programs, and is funded by the state, you can bet they are deriving their 'info.' from religious sources. Never seen a case in which this is not so.
