Krugman on McCain's cozying up to Fallwell

http://www.topplebush.com/oped2650.shtml

As for Mr. McCain: his denunciation of Mr. Falwell and Mr. Robertson six years ago helped give him a reputation as a moderate on social issues. Now that he has made up with Mr. Falwell and endorsed South Dakota's ban on abortion even in the case of rape or incest, only two conclusions are possible: either he isn't a social moderate after all, or he's a cynical political opportunist.

1. I disagree with Krugman...
I think he isn't a social moderate AND he's a cynical political opportunist...

2. Ole John is definitely a political opportunist
I expect him to emcee a strip show at a gay bar any day now. He served his country proudly and I salute his sacrifices but I think the man is politically insane. Obviously prostitution is not out of the question for him to get votes.

5. I'm not sure it's just political insanity!
He is a scary guy. He absolutely doesn't care what he has to say or do or become in order to be president. Someone with that kind of lust for power really scares me. And the worst part is...lots of moderates of both parties think the guy is the second coming!

3. Remember,
Cousin John's conversion to campaign financing reform came AFTER he came close to indictment in a campaign finance scandal.

4. He's an opportunist -

McCain has NO strong feelings about anything - he'll do or say whatever he needs to do; kiss whatever ass needs to be kissed to get ahead. He's not a social moderate, he's not a conservative either. He's whatever he needs to be for his own political needs. x(

6.  He's following the BUSH strategy of lying about conservative goals.
He's socially conservative AND an opportunist.

Everyone watch Cain build up his "base" in the coming months. He's doing what Bush did...he's going to the nutbag right, making all sorts of assurances in private, and telling them to pay no mind to the BS he has to sling to disguise his intentions to moderates. It's going to be another campaign that is entirely a lie.

8. With any luck, that's the picture that will do him in politically.
McCain has become a Bush-licker.
