The pressure is on Illinois'Emanuel to deliver a victory in midterm elections ---and analysts think he can.

Phoenix-- with polls showing Democrats increasingly within striking distance of taking the House of Representatives,Rep. Rahm Emanuel of Illinois, the pint man in the Democratic effort, is traveling the country, raising money and stumping for candidates at a frenetic pace.

Two years ago, most analysts believed Democrats had virtually no chance of retaking the House. But with the botched response to Hurricane Katrina, the mounting deaths in Iraq and the congressional page scandal, among other Republican problems, the pressure is on Emanuel, as the man responsible for electing Democrats to the House, to bring home the victory on Nov. 7th.

Chicago Tribune is the most Republican Paper here in Il.

7. doesn't matter
John has done SO WELL with his shoestring, grassroots, netroots campaign.

Doubling his total funding to-date would not require "Hastert-type" funds. He does not need to match Haster's funds, he just needs enough to be able to ratchet up the exposure.

And heck, even if the party thinks it's hopeless, think of the panic it can cause, and the increased negative publicity, if it becomes even more nationally known that "the coach" is at serious risk! I keep hearing speculation about his losing speakership "even if the dems don't win". As if that were the only frickin threat the bum faced! They should at least be adding a tag "and his seat looks less sure than it once did". That media attention would be invaluable to all dem candidates. Not to mention distracting the reps.

Let's get John on Olbermann!!
