Dayton eclipsed again, Criticized at home, Dayton edged out by Coleman
This is a fairly nice article on Dayton, despite the title. He is gaining attention - I've noticed more Dayton bashing lately - think he is getting to Rove and Co.

Dayton is fully aware of his political problems. He appears determined to overcome them, but resigned to his fate if he can’t.

“After what happened to Paul, I’m assuming nothing,” he said last week while waiting to speak in support of a Democratic amendment calling for a bipartisan investigation of the Bush administration’s intelligence claims to justify war with Iraq. “I’m going to do the best I can do and people can decide whether they want to rehire me or not.”

Dayton disputes the notion that Minnesota is becoming more Republican. “I think voters are making independent judgments about each race,” he said. “I’ll take my chances in that scenario.”
---snip--
Dayton’s precarious financial situation was highlighted last week when his campaign committee reported he has less than $31,000 in cash after raising only $141,058 this year.

By contrast, Coleman’s campaign committee reported that it raised almost $400,000 in his first six months in office, and another $137,500 for a leadership PAC he formed two months ago to repay fellow Republicans who helped finance his 2002 campaign and “to travel and articulate my vision.”

1. Dayton is a good man and starting to hit his stride
I saw him in person at a NARAL fund-raiser a week or two ago and I can say that Mark Dayton is a very good, decent man who is genuinely shocked and appalled at what is happening to America and to the great state of Minnesota. His main weakness in my book is that he's a really bad public speaker (he comes across as nervous and frequently stumbles over his words or mangles a phrase) and I'm afraid it might become his Achille's Heel in the future if he doesn't make some improvements in that area.

Coleman, on the other hand, ain't nothin' but a ho'.
