Washington elites are terrified that Dean will disrupt their power base
http://www.msnbc.com/news/1004328.asp?cp1=1

Dec. 12 — History is repeating itself with another little-known governor from an obscure state vaulting ahead of the pack to become the favorite for the Democratic nomination for president. Once again, Washington insiders are apoplectic.

Congress is out of session this week, which means congressional aides have plenty of time to indulge in their fear and loathing of Howard Dean. A Republican Senate staffer calls Dean a “militant secularist” who never wants to talk about religion and refers to churchgoers as “those people.” He predicts that Karl Rove will do such a job painting Dean as a far-out liberal that the Vermont governor won’t be able to get back to the political middle even if he wants to. A Democratic House staffer detects an emerging backlash to Al Gore’s surprise endorsement of Dean, tarnishing the former vice president’s martyr image and making him look opportunistic. He predicts Gore’s move will only accelerate the Stop Dean movement.

Dean should sweep the D.C. primary on Jan. 13. It’s the city’s first-ever presidential primary, and Dean is the only viable candidate other than Al Sharpton this majority black city. But the inside-the-beltway elites are terrified that Dean will disrupt their power base and consign Democrats to the wilderness for another four years. Last weekend, Hillary Clinton appeared on all the Sunday shows, insisting President Bush did the right thing in Iraq and defending her vote giving him the authorization. Dressed in soft pink, Clinton’s tough line on the war made her the rallying point for Democrats unnerved by Dean’s anti-war rhetoric.

1. If democrats are going to be republicans
what's the difference if they're consigned to the wilderness or not?

2. What a joke. Dean was the most centrist Democrat as governor.
This dog and pony show to get the left to accept his centrism because he wrapped it in internet populist rhetoric would be amusing if there wasn't so much at stake in this next election.

3. God or Health Care

things are that bad right now, the poor white God GOP crowd just
might choose health care for their kids vs God. I would, but I'm not one of "those people"

Dean is puzzled why minimum-wage workers who have no health benefits would vote Republican. The answer he’d rather not hear is they care more about God, gays and guns than health care. The answer he’d rather not hear is they care more about God, gays and guns than health care.

4. If enough of them think that way, that's what they'll get instead
of health care.

The good news might be that without health care they might not live long and we'll be rid of them.

5. HiIlary wore "soft pink"? How pathetic. I'm sorry guys, this is so faux.
This isn't a struggle, war, whatever. It's just pathetic. Shall we serve ourselves up with a little Chianti? I'm not going there.

If the DLC doesn't get with the program, send them a NEW democratic brochure. We don't need a machine. If both the political parties don't change, they may be "clever girls", but they're dead in the water ones. It may take a few years for a bigger reaction to George and failed Dem and Republican leadership, but it is coming. Dean and Clark are just the beginning.

7. You go MM!!!
...just the beginning.

You said it!

The Dean phenomenon is not about Howard Dean, it's about a grassroots movement by concerned citizens to take back our government from the power elite that are using it to expand their wealth and power at everyone else's expense.

Damn right it's a threat to their power base, and they should be scared!

This movement is not going to go away, no matter what happens in November. True democracy is asserting itself, and will continue to do so because the outrages of Bushco are stirring the electorate from their lethargy.

8. Agree, but add my analysis of Nov. 2004
How many Gore voters will vote for Bush next year? My guess
is none. How many Nader voters will vote for Nader. My guess
is, less than three million. How many Buchanan voters will
vote for Bush? My guess is about 200k (half).

I honestly can't see how Bush can win, without big-time fraud.

10. I Concur
There is no point in living through this Constitutional Crisis unless we revolutionize the power structure.

The point is change--real, meaningful, lasting change that improves our nation for all its children, not just the 2 percenters.

6. More Press Whoring from BSRNC
The way to stop Micro$hit is to switch to Linux.

Wonder how much longer Micro$hit can finance these lies if the masses switch to Linux?

We're getting organized and growing stronger day by day. We're coming after those elites who have sold us down the river. They're all gonna ask "What the hell was that that ran us over? Never seen anything like it in all my years in Warshington"

We, The People, are gonna TAKE BACK AMERICA!
