Globalized Breaking and Entering

William Shire a CBS correspondent working in Berlin in 1939 noted, that even though he knew the state run German media was nothing more than propaganda organ he couldn’t help but notice how much his opinions were influenced by it when he would return to England. I think of this because I never cease to be amazed by right thinking well-intentioned intelligent people buying into the corporate Bush line. The democrats for a large part agree in principal with Bush now how could that be? They talk about supporting and protecting our troops in a word Bull shit!

The war in Iraq was nothing but global breaking and entering, theft by force. There is nothing noble or patriotic about it. Those that sent them care no more about our service men than the fisherman cares about the worm. The issue is about keeping public support up, or to present the illusion of doing something about it. Congressman X says we will bring our troops home in twelve months then Congressman Y says NO! Twenty-four months than Congressman Z says we will cut off funding then they go into conference committee and make it a non-binding resolution.

A realistic attempt would be for a congressman to take the floor and refuse to yield until removed by force making it a media issue to bring to the fore Republicans or Democrats are working for the same paymaster. Meanwhile our treasury is looted, our service men are killed or wounded and our Army is degraded. It is far too late in the argument to say, “Is there and honorable way to exit?” Because the answer is no, we lost our honor on the way in. Like a murderer or a rapist after the fact is far too late to worry about our reputation. But here in the Corporate States of America they are only allowed to tinker in the margins or their checks might stop coming from the lobbyists.

The facts are clear and to ignore them is to make us complicit, and accessories after the fact.
Iraq did not have weapons of mass destructions.
Iraq was not a supporter of terrorism
Saddam was no more a threat to his neighbors than the Dolli Lama.

But George of the Bungle and the corporate minions all most have their grubby little fingers on the oil. The quisling Parliament has passed the oil by theft program, which will pass the ownership of the oil to the corporations, and Iraqi’s will receive a royalty check and become a nation of sharecropper’s poor folks in a rich land. Free health care gone, free college tuition gone any hope of rebuilding their country gone. Congress can sing and dance and the media can spout on prattle with patriotic slogans
But they are nothing but lies, cheap and insulting lies at that.

This was a geopolitical crime committed for corporate interests in the belief that it would benefit American foreign policy. Whether the intention now is to save face or to buy time we should not allow our eyes to be taken of the ball or misdirected. This is a crime perpetrated on the American public, any politician that won’t admit that is just as guilty as George of the Bungle. There is no graceful exit, there is no happy ending there is only an ending. We as a nation have only paid to enter this nightmare the bill for the cost of exiting isn’t even in the mail yet and our children will still be paying it long after masseurs Bush and Cheney have left this world.

1. K & R, especially for this phrase:
It is far too late in the argument to say, “Is there and honorable way to exit?”
Because the answer is no, we lost our honor on the way in.

And a hearty welcome to DU.
