Robert F. Kennedy - by Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
04.04.2007

In 1968, my father, running for President, addressed in a speech, the White House's proposal for a troop surge in Vietnam. Robert Kennedy had initially supported the U.S. intervention in Vietnam. Forty years later, as Congress and the White House debate the further escalation of yet another war that has already claimed the lives of an astounding 640,000 Iraqis, killed 3,256 U.S. soldiers and wounded another 50,000, his words should have special resonance to those of our political leaders who are still searching for the right course in Iraq:

"I do not want--as I believe most Americans do not want--to sell out American interests, to simply withdraw, to raise the white flag of surrender. That would be unacceptable to us as a country and as a people. But I am concerned--as I believe most Americans are concerned--that the course we are following at the present time is deeply wrong. I am concerned--as I believe most Americans are concerned--that we are acting as if no other nations existed, against the judgment and desires of neutrals and our historic allies alike. I am concerned--as I believe most Americans are concerned--that our present course will not bring victory; will not bring peace; will not stop the bloodshed; and will not advance the interests of the United States or the cause of peace in the world. I am concerned that, at the end of it all, there will only be more Americans killed; more of our treasure spilled out; and because of the bitterness and hatred on every side of this war, more hundreds of thousands of slaughtered; so they may say, as Tacitus said of Rome: "They made a desert, and called it peace." . . .>>>>snip

Robert Kennedy Junior's summation :

"You are the people, as President Kennedy said, who have "the least ties to the present and the greatest ties to the future."

I urge you to learn the harsh facts that lurk behind the mask of official illusion with which we have concealed our true circumstances, even from ourselves.

Our country is in danger: not just from foreign enemies; but above all, from our misguided policies--and what they can do to the nation that Thomas Jefferson once told us was the last, best hope of man.

There is a contest on, not for the rule of America, but for the heart of America. . . . I ask you to go forth and work for new policies--work to change our direction--and thus restore our place at the point of moral leadership, in our country, in our hearts, and all around the world."

2. He was the last true, I won't say liberal, leader of that generation who stood for truth,
justice, eauality, and freedom for ALL. (Bobby may have been considered a liberal, but he was a pragmatic liberal who was conservative in some ways. However, he was growing into someone very special. When we lost Bobby, I think many of us lost hope.)

In nullifying the liberal leaning leaders who have come since then, more subtle methods have been used than outright assassination.

Character assasignation has been one of the most used tools, and if outright assassination has been used, it has been done in such a way that it is not provable.

3. If you have not seen the film Bobby, do yourself a big favor and
go to see it. The story is about the hotel and the lives of the guests and workers at the hotel the day of Bobby's death, but interspersed throughout the movie are the speeches he gave (on tv screens in the hotel.) I had forgotten how incredible his ideas and his eloquence in speaking those ideas were. Compare our future with the leadership of a Bobby Kennedy as president with the W we have now. The difference is measured in galaxies.

4. I Haven't Been Able To Get Myself To Go See It. Bobby Kennedy
was a person who affected my life in a very serious way and it's difficult for me to be reminded about his death. I suppose that at some point in time I WILL go see it, but it brings back sad memories.

In comparison to what we are dealing with today it's seems impossible that we have allowed this evil, corrupt administration to be doing what they have done. I have to admit that I tried so very hard to get the word out about these BUSHIES, but too many people just got suckered.

And while I really don't think they EVER got elected either time, I feel THEY had a "system" in place to manipulate the whole thing, both times around. And because the Repukes had an OVERWHELMING need to control Congress many of them didn't give one WHIT about whether they broke the law or not!

I will freely admit that Democrats have done their share when it comes to "vote" fixing from the past... you only have to think of Chicago and the New York Machines to find proof of it, however I don't think their "agenda" was to RULE THE WORLD, or to turn our system of Government into a Monarchy or better yet and DICK-TATOR-SHIP!

America has gone through many many scandals on both sides, but BFEE has turned America into a place that is no longer respected by many past allies and that is something that is extremely crucial and SCARY!

And it's going to take a very long time to "fix" so much of it and I wonder if I'll be around to see it. I will still fight against them for the sake of my children and grand children though! And I will lead by example of what I feel "we the people" should and can do!
