NH could turn GOP race upside down
(by Liz Sidoti, AP News, 11/8/07)

A stay-at-home mother of four boys in nearby Bedford, Shannon McGinley typifies the indecisiveness. One day this week, she zipped from a breakfast-time Thompson appearance to a midmorning Giuliani speech — but said she was leaning toward Huckabee. "I'm still shopping," said McGinley, 37. "You have to be both bright and a communicator. Sometimes that doesn't always happen in politics."

At the Bedford Village Inn as Thompson prepared to speak, Ray Powles of Goffstown called himself "still hovering" and said he was partial to Romney, Thompson and Giuliani.

"I'd like to see a candidate that addresses some of the issues, that's going to help try to strengthen the country, shore it up and not set us back," said the 37-year-old Republican who works at a cable company. Waiting to hear from Giuliani in Manchester, Noel Rainville, a 65-year-old retiree from Bedford, said she's taking her time deciding who to support after voting for Bush in the 2000 primary and ending up disappointed.

"I never did realize we would be in this situation," she said of the Iraq war. This time, Rainville said, she is leaning toward Giuliani and McCain. "They have served well in the positions that they have been in. To me, they're very honest. And I'm not sure the others are."

The fact that this uninformed woman believes that serial liar Giuliani is "very honest" and that he has "served well" shows that we have a lot of work to do. Where do you suppose she got these ideas?

1. The 65 year old retiree that voted for Bush....
probably isn't the best barometer of honesty. "I never did realize we would be in this situation," she said of the Iraq war. :wtf: If she was paying ATTENTION in 2000 she never would have voted for Bush. Apparently she believes that just because these candidates tell them something in a stump speech it HAS to be the TRUTH! A candidate would NEVER lie to get votes, right? :eyes: It's uninformed idiots like this that give people like George Bush the reins of power.

I get the feeling that this woman would vote for anyone with a (R) after their name no matter what they told her. RepubliCONS never lie and are ALWAYS looking out for the little guy, right? :sarcasm:

Fucking morons.

2. The Oblivious Leading the Blind
That describes both parties, by the way.

I think we should just throw in the towel and hold the funeral for Uncle Sam right now, get it over with, whip through the grieving process, and then decline gently into the Third World.

Maybe we can follow Rome, a travesty of its once great status.

3. But... But... No one could've anticipated that Bush would be such a disaster!

4. Just a thought here
While I agree with the comments about the lady's judgement and the GOP candidates, the article does indicate that the GOP voters are having a real problem with their choices and it is in one sense really "None of The Above". Dems have several good choices from which to select and the other side has a series of ones that are not so appealing and it's getting to be a problem for them as things get down to the wire. The next couple of months will be interesting to see how it spins out. I believe that this is in part why Ron Paul is doing as well as he is, not because he would be a good choice, but rather that the others simply don't fill the bill for the voters. I am sitting back to watch the show.
