Hi Bro,

Well, here we are at the place that many of us have known for a long time that we were ultimately headed to. As a nation, here we stand, basically alone, grievously wounded while our life blood drips from our wounds caused by the continuation of two senseless wars. And while the nation cries for help, our politicians spend their time either running for office, re-election to office or investigating whether a wealthy baseball player injected himself with steroids or growth hormones or both.

While our politicians spend their day seeking ways to enhance their lives with more wealth, power and prestige, the powerful nation that we once knew and loved struggles just to survive. Have our political leaders not heard of what happens when you kill the goose that lays the golden eggs? Do they not know of the law of diminishing returns? Haven't they ever heard what happens when you draw from the well too many times? I feel that they all know very well what devastations could and possibly will befall this nation but can't help themselves because of their maddening addictions to greed and power. Are we left with leaders akin to Caesar that are willing to fiddle while the nation around them goes up in smoke?

While taxes at all levels, the prices at the grocery, the gas station, utilities, mortgages, health insurance, prescription drugs and on and on continue to rise to a plateau that has already or soon will be completely out of reach of many, our elected officials talk of an unstable economy and how they are working to prevent a recession. Well, my friend, someone needs to let the Administrative branch, the House and the Senate know that we are ALREADY in a damn recession.

And as bad as that may seem, there are many more worries to consider. Our dollar has diminished in value to the point that other foreign governments no longer want it any more. And now, when a foreign country does finally buy something made in America, they buy it with their currency, which is equivalent to buying at a great discount. And when we buy from them with our weak dollar, we are paying through the nose. And as we struggle through our economic dilemma, China and other nations are gleefully taking America down the road to financial disaster with one guaranteed result. The weaker we get financially, the stronger they get!

Now that economic stagnation is setting in, and prices for everything is skyrocketing, the working class will encounter a whole new package of problems. Just to mention a couple, lagging wages and higher unemployment. The auto manufacturing industry has already started a movement to adjust to the coming problems. They have already cut a deal with the worker unions to buy out the current well paid employees and replace them with new workers at a greatly reduced wage and dramatically reduced health and retirement benefits. I'm sure that this concept will become a template for industry in general and don't be surprised to see some of the same take place in city and county government. Unless the American worker gets some kind of reprieve soon, there is going to be a kind of upheaval in our midst that this nation has not seen in a very long time. As shocking as it may seem, I would not rule out a full fledged revolution. A mini-revolution is already underway. We Democrats have been proving that by the way we have been storming the polls throughout the country and will continue to do so. The American public has spoken over and over and each time their cries have fallen on deaf ears. I know in my heart that the American citizens are strong, hard working and God fearing people with a reputation for turning the other cheek. But as the saying goes, enough is enough. It is high time that our political leaders do what ever it takes to stave off their craving for power and wealth and return to the fold and lead us to a more solid ground. It is not as if we are asking them to do us a favor. It is their sworn duty to lead. It is their sworn duty to listen to their constituents and to serve the will of the people. Not to serve only for their personal gain.

We all know that we can not expect help from President Bush or any member of his administration, so all we have left is the House and Senate and ourselves. If the House and Senate continue to ignore us and continue to indulge in their addiction to power and wealth, then that leaves we, the American people to fend for ourselves in whatever way we can. As I previously stated, I believe in the American people and also believe that they will rise above all of this. The American people will not stand idle much longer and watch this nation that so many of us have fought to defend slip from our grasp. This will not happen! In the event that the Republicans steal the presidency again in November, I would shudder to think what reactions by the American people would be set in motion.

As always,
