GOP CONVENTION / DAY TWO ~ THE NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD

Lame duck President George W. Bush attends the 3rd Annual Katrina Dog-and-Pony Show in New Orleans on a desperate search for any scrap of improvement randomly caused by his Administration ~ which the Republican National Convention cannot find.

George W Bush and also John McCain's response to Hurricane Katrina is the most accurate symbol and soiled legacy of this inept, criminal and uncaring administration and their co-conspirators . It started with the appointment of, believe it or not, Karl Rove as Reconstruction Czar and went downhill from there: Allen L Roland

Hurricane Katrina fully exposed the soft and corrupt underbelly of the Cheney/Bush administration and the media, for the most part, let them get away with it. Multiply the Cheney/Bush administration's Katrina failures by ten and your looking at Iraq.

Regardless of the American flags, false patriotism and the constant reminders of 9/11 ~ the Republican convention will not be able to escape this unavoidable fact ~ which the mainstream cannot cover up like the super costly Iraq quagmire ~ and that fact is the soiled Bush /McCain legacy of their uncaring response to Hurricane Katrina's devastation which continues to be a gaping unhealed wound from which the republican party has yet to recover.

One of the most memorable images from Hurricane Katrina is Bush looking out the window of Air Force One at the Gulf Coast destruction below, symbolizing an out-of-touch commander-in-chief who waited two days after Katrina struck before cutting short his vacation in Texas.

Bush than chose Karl Rove to be his Reconstruction Czar with its obvious political consequences ~ after all, they were mainly blacks, Democrats and politically expendable.

Rove used Katrina to push the administration’s failed ideologies on the Gulf Coast, advocating segregated schools, reduced pay for low-wage reconstruction workers, and limited government health care. Political allies received large no-bid contracts.

Americans were outraged and still are. A CBS News poll six months after the hurricane found that just 32 percent of the public approved of the way Bush handled the disaster. Watch this five minute video ~ YouTube - The Bush Legacy on Katrina

Now let's look at John McCain's record post Katrina, compliments of Chris Hayes of The Nation <http://www.thenation.com/blogs/jstreet/352140>; :
" If (McCain) cared about New Orleans and the Gulf Coast he could have done something these past three years. He could have made Gulf Reconstruction his issue, he could have excoriated his party for pushing federal dollars into the hands of cronies, for providing inadequate resources, for allowing the further destruction of the wetlands that serve as the only natural barrier to storm surges. He could have taken on the insurance companies that have been serially screwing the residents of the gulf. But he was too busy pushing for more troops, and more war and running for president. "

George W Bush and Richard Cheney have dismantled a once proud Republican party with their own selfish greed and neocon right wing agenda. They, and their apologist John McCain, rightfully deserve to be both ridiculed and pillaged by an outraged electorate as well as moderate Republicans who are increasingly deserting this sinking ship and voting for Obama.

Meanwhile, as to the multitude of empty seats at the Republican National Convention ~ the RNC Feels Like an Insurance Convention .

There is indeed a distinct feeling of impending doom in the air and Thompson and Lieberman reinforced the ennui ~ it's the night of the living dead !
