The New Tactic: Liberals And Smart People Are Anti-American
Yesterday marked a new low for American politics. A new effort by three women in the Republican Party was unveiled. Liberals and intellectuals are Anti-American.

Rep. Michele Bachmann

Matthews also asked Bachmann, "How many people in Congress of the United States do you believe are anti-American?"

Bachmann replied, "I wish the American media would take a great look at the views of the people in Congress and find out, are they pro-America or anti-America?"

Michelle Marston, spokeswoman for Bachmann's reelection campaign, said it's "perfectly legitimate for the American people to want to know how all this informs his policy positions and what direction an Obama Administration would want to lead the nation."

Bay Buchanan

Last night on CNN 360

Bay Buchanan, when asked why Republican intellectuals are abandoning McCain, quote "Those are intellectuals, not the ones that matter"

Sara Palin

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin told a fundraiser in Greensboro, North Carolina, on Thursday night:

"We believe that the best of America is in the small towns that we get to visit, and in the wonderful little pockets of what I call the real America, being here with all of you hard-working, very patriotic, very pro-America areas of this great nation," she said.

"This is where we find the kindness and the goodness and the courage of everyday Americans," Palin added.

On Friday, Palin clarified her comments.

"It's all pro-America. I was just reinforcing the fact that there, where I was, there's good patriotic people there in these rallies, so excited about positive change and reform of government that's coming that they are so appreciative of hearing our message, hearing our plan. Not any one area of America is more pro-America patriotically than others," she said.

Is this the new tactic? Urban areas, educated, and liberals all unpatriotic all un-American.

1. That's hardly a new tactic
I'm only 21 and I think that was one of the first things I ever realized about American politics, back when people were making fun of Gore. It isn't always helpful to be smart or well-educated, unless you can cover that up by acting like a jackass a la GWB.

4. It is new to this election
Granted it has been implied four the last eight years, but in this election it has not been so forcefully shoved down the throats of the American public. I have definitely heard it on the Crazy Christian Radio in your neighborhood.

2. The Third Reich demonized intellectuals
so has every other right wing revolution in the world, including the current one in America.

7. The 3rd Reich went after far more than Jews; liberals, gays, blacks & intellectuals topped
off thier hit list.

And yet you must never ever never ever compare rightwing republicans to rightwing 3rd Reich.

Never ever ever never.

Hmmmm...gee, I wonder why not.

5. Not new, a persistent strain in US politics.
The "Know Nothing" party goes way back. It is true that it's been a very prominent part of the "Southern Strategy" all along.

6. It was working for the GOP until America discovered
Stupid Doesn't Work.

The idea that life is a sitcom where things always work out for dumb husband and hot wife is playing out in real life.
