This is the biggest bunch of repug shit...oh wait everything they say is that so n/m. But anyway, any seen where Bush proposes snaggin the teen and nerd votes by promising them affordable broadband by 2007..........um from what I have been reading he will have nothing to do with it but will try to take credit for it. I sure hope somone tears him up just like he and his repug @$$ hole friends ripped Gore for stating that he took the initiative in creating the internet. what a bunch of political BS, thinking this would make me vote for him. MY INTERNET IS ALREADY AFFORDABLE and FAST AND I HAVE A PUBLIC IP EVEN FOR NO COST!!!!! the only ISP I know of that charges ridicoulus rates is Hughes Satilite internet which btw sux0rz.

Second offshoring wave to hit Indian shores
RASHMEE Z AHMED

TIMES NEWS NETWORK< SATURDAY, MARCH 27, 2004 01:50:37 AM >

LONDON: A second giant off-shoring wave is about to break on Indian shores and it will be bigger, better and broadband, with half the world's leading telecom operators beating a path to our door by 2008, the authoritative Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) Industry Group of Deloitte has predicted.

The stampede into India will trail in its wake 275,000 jobs or a massive 5 per cent of the world's total telecom jobs of 5.5 million. It will tot up 12 billion pounds per year in savings for the fixed line, mobile and cable operating companies who have headed East.

And crucially, it will be a brand upgrade for India because this second wave of off-shoring will be less a cyber-sweatshop than a serious tech-savvy value-for-money option.

As the world increasingly thirsts for technologically advanced, affordable broadband and data applications down a fixed or virtual phone line, Shirish Patel, telecom partner at Deloitte said: "The drive for enhanced data services, better customer support and faster time-to-market for innovative applications and services, as well as the perennial drive for profitability, means that many operators consider off-shoring a necessary strategy for growth."

Deloitte said that the trend "towards advanced data-oriented services will increase the need for affordable support staff with strong technical skills".

Beware broadband over power lines.

22. That is so 5 minutes ago
I want a pony!

Let's see, we are going to the moon, we are going to find Osama "Dead or Alive", create 2.3 million jobs by years end, bring democracy without elections to Iraq. We are going to support our troops by cutting their combat pay. We are going to improve Medicare by making people pay more for their perscriptions.

But seriously, there are thousand of miles of fiber optic cables that go no where, it won't take much to connect them from the street to the house. This is a potential bonanza for the telecommunications industry, if only people would convert to broadband.

But this begs the question regarding affordable broadband, how long will it stay affordable once the dialup services are done away with.

Dialup service is going to be the trolly cars of this century. Cheap, convenient and expendable.
