RedState Whack Job Foments Revolution, Over Dish Soap
Erick Erickson runs RedState, and he went over the hill Tuesday, whining and gnashing his teeth about an environmental regulation in Washington State, so much that he talked about how the regulation, or one like it, could be the basis of armed revolt. The regulation eliminates phosphates in dish soap. It is to ensure safe drinking water.

1. Phosphates aren't needed in soap
Eliminating them does cause a slight increase in manufacturing cost but not enough that anybody should even notice. I think this is starting to resemble the "uproar" when they finally got rid of lead in gas, all driven by the manufacturing sector that doesn't want to change simply because it's easier to keep doing what we're doing.

My guess is phosphates in soap will be pretty much gone in 3 or 4 years, at least in North America.

2. And then the armed insurrection begins
Militias will be hoarding soap, mothers and fathers will be teaching about the good old days when they could buy any old soap they wanted, etc. Cats and dogs will be living together and getting married, too.
