At the Ward Churchill verdit
It's all right here: http://www.examiner.com/x-1765-Underground-Examiner~y2009m4d2-Ward-Churchill-awarded-1-for-wrongful-termination

I have never read any of Churchill's writings. I've never looked at any of his scholarship. And until yesterday, I had never met the man.

I have been in and out of the courthouse all week while Ward Churchill was in court suing the University for wrongful termination. Yesterday, I saw him smoking outside with his wife and a few college-age students who always seem to surround him, and asked, "How are things going?"

He said something along the lines of the trial was already decided, which I took to mean that they had it in for him. I guess they didn't.

I saw him again today, and went up and said hello. He was sitting with two other fans who had driven in from California to support him. I was hoping to sneak a photo from my cell phone, since there aren't many photos of Churchill in the public domain. Then, someone walked by and said the Jury had a question, and off they went, into court, and off I went to sort through some more files.

You can read the rest at the link, but just thought I'd share.

1. I can hardly wait for our local Colorado right wing talkers tomorrow
People like Mike Rosen and Peter Boyles. Their heads should be exploding over this verdict.

2. Yep. That's sort of my take too.
I think the jury got it right.

4. Par for the course.
At least his.

"He said something along the lines of the trial was already decided, which I took to mean that they had it in for him. I guess they didn't."

His statement was probably interpreted as intended. That it was incorrect, well ...

5. I was wrong....
The $1 amount was not meant in any way to be an insult to Churchill: http://www.examiner.com/x-1765-Underground-Examiner~y2009m4d3-Apology-to-Ward-Churchill-and-his-jury

The juror called into a right wing radio show and set them straight.
