In case you missed it: Rachel Maddow on Tea Bagging & Tea parties
In case you missed it: see Rachel Maddow talking about the Tea Parties and Tea bagging.

If you don't know why this is so funny, look up "teabagging" on Wikipedia.

4. On one hand it's sickly funny and easy to dismiss the nuttiness
and the crazies in the street carrying on. Those are the faces we see. But on the other, I didn't miss that the nuttiness is actively endorsed by the secessionists, the militias, the white supremacists, the neonazis, etc. Those are the faces we don't -- or the faces who don't show themselves for who they really are.

That, my good friends, bears watching. The nuttier the faces we see get, you KNOW the nuttier the faces we don't are getting.

For instance, I live in a fairly blue, very rural county. It's 55% African American, and around the turn of the last century there was a great deal of unrest and several murders when the Klan tried to get started here and finally got run out. Its members fled to neighboring counties where it's still fairly active today. I work two counties away in another very blue county, but I have to travel through one very red, very rural county. I see lots of McKook/Palin signs, rebel flags and junk cars in front yards and I get passed by pickup trucks with 88 on the back window. (For those who don't know, 88 is klan/white-supremacist shorthand for "heil Hitler".)

If you don't think that makes me a bit nervous, guess again. Little wonder I have my carry permit.

As for those who are stirring anti-American activities and calling for the overthrow of duly-elected American government: shame upon you and may the punishment called for by American law be meted out to you. You've tried to do it to us for attempted to enforce American law. Now you're trying to break, even overthrow it. You're no Americans. You're cowards, seditionists, even treasonous. If you no longer love America, I have a suggestion:

There is a place that is ideal for you and it already exists. Religion is the supreme law of the land. Government rules every aspect of your life, including moral behavior. Homosexuality is illegal and the penalty for even being suspected of being gay is death by stoning, just like in the Bible, just the way you like it. Adultry is also punishable by death. Women must be subordinate to their husbands and must walk behind them; wives must submit in every way to every whim of their husbands. It's the law.

See? It's your Shangri-La, everything you've been dying to have in American government and it already exists. The rest of us don't want that in America, but your Heaven on earth has already been created. We'll be glad to pass the hat to send you there.

It's called Iran.

Now fucking leave and go there. See how you like them apples, muthafuckers.

5. I love your suggestion. And thanks for telling us what 88 means....
I live in Birmingham, Alabama. I've never seen 88 on the back of someone's car but I was never looking for it before. Birmingham is a "blue" county but Alabama is a very very red state.

I've been telling people on blogs and forums and what not who want to secede and or overthrow the government, "If you hate America so much, why don't you just leave," because that's what we all heard for 8 years when Bush was in office and someone complained about it.
