Vatican Running US Foreign Policy?
The Vatican has reportedly rejected three candidates for US Ambassador to the country, inluding Caroline Kennedy. What gives them the right? It appears they take whatever “right” they can, including determining our foreign policy. while it might not be politic to play hardball with the Vatican, it is time to assert our rights.

1. Better to Let The Pope Sit There Without an Ambassador, Then, and Contemplate His Isolation
Who needs the Vatican, anyway? It's more obsolete and less useful than GM or Chrysler.

2. I think it ironic
Jack Kennedy was criticized for a while for the potential he would take orders fromt he Vatican. Now the Vatican rejects his daughter.

5. I don't think I'm getting this
How is the Vatican running our foreign policy by rejecting ambassadors? I think anyone we send an ambassador to would have the right to either accept or reject said ambassador.

16. For an ambassador... sure
But they do not seem to be doing even that. I would expect anyone we send an ambassador to be able to accept or decline that person.

11. Or
we could just appoint a frozen mass of 16 embryonic cells as our ambassador. They'd probably give that more respect.

13. I have an idea. Why do we need an ambassador to the Vatican anyhow?
We didn't used to have one and we got along just fine.

17. Even if this is true
The Vatican and any other sovereign state has the right to accept or reject those put forth as ambassador. It is advantageous to nation when sending an ambassador to another country that the person is acceptable to the host nation. To do otherwise would be a waste of the time and resources of all concerned.

18. How many accept or reject?
Evidently only the Vatican. And they don't even give women the right to vote.

22. Do you have proof that no other country has rejected an
ambassador? If so post it. If you don't or can't then I guess you just assumed that fact- and that would make you no different than O'Liely or Limpballs- just a different point of view. I would hope that is incorrect.

20. The Vatican is full of troglodytes....
but really, "running our foreign policy" is a bit much. They're rejecting ambassadorial nominees, obnoxious, but any country has the right to accept or reject our envoys.
