A practical demonstration of the United States of Amnesia - how is this possible :

The DHS assessment on the extreme right wing, ordered by the Bush admin., part of an assessment of the extreme left/right in the US, the former having been published years before (timing!), seems to have upset some of our nation's finest.

So a rather famous crook, err, Patridiot offers us his opinion on the DHS assessment - nothing wrong with that I guess - but HIM writing THIS? :

"

Mr. Obama should disavow this report publicly and fire the officials responsible for issuing it. Those who prepare his remarks for the occasion should insert in the teleprompter former Sen. Barry Goldwater's words on the subject: "Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice."

"

Is he freakin' kidding me? How is this possible? I wasn't the least bit surprised to see this crook pop up on FauxNoise, but I was rather shocked when I saw his book in an actual bookstore.
Here's a not convicted sponsor of semi-governmental terrorism, responsible for enabling the killing of thousands of civilians, responsible for the arming of a state that his people are now pushing to invade, responsible for the upsurge in the middle-american drug surge, and for many other things. Of course this wasn't his private plan, he was just "following orders", but as things go, we don't really excuse crimes that way anymore ever since WWII.

If you haven't eaten yet, take a look at the comments on that page, and try to enlighten me as to how it is possible for someone to ask Ollie " to lead and we'll follow " who has lived in the US for some amount of time? How stupid are these people? Are there people in this country who believe Iran-Contra was a good thing? How can he be a Patriot? How can he be someone people look up to?

Reading those comments, although they come from townhall, has robbed me of a bit more of the confidence I have in the future of this democratic experiment of ours.
