Still trying to figure out why we went to war
Heard any good rationales for the war lately?

If not, maybe you ought to talk to Devon Largio, a new graduate of University of Illinois, who says her research turned up 23 different rationales offered by the Bush administration in the year following 9-11.
<snip>

And did she ever "figure out why we went to war"?

"I didn't include this in my paper," she said, "but I'm as torn now as I was when I started. I tend to accept the good intentions of the president, and it's tempting to say that if they have 23 reasons for going to war, we probably should have gone. On the other hand, I find myself thinking that if they had to keep coming up with new reasons for going to war, we probably shouldn't have done it. It's almost like the decision came first, then the rationales."

1. The way I see it Bush has decided he's going to bring democracy to
Iraq even if he has to kill every damned one of them to do it!

2. Just as always.
Remember the Clinton years? They came up with the guilty party (Clinton) and spent 8 years trying to find the crime.

They've done the same with all the people they've illegally detained under the Patriot {sic} Act. They'll hold these people for as long as it takes to discover a crime they can hang on them. Same thing with the people they have in Gitmo, most of whom are idealistic Moslems who wanted to experience the "pure" Taleban system, and guilty of being misguided more than anything.

That they invaded a country illegally and then set to work scrambling to justify it is just more of the same from this bunch, and an illustration of why our laws were the way they were before they illegally grabbed power.

3. they change the reason so often that I can't keep track of it
it started somehow with "imminent danger" and huge stockpiles of WMD...then changed to "bringing democracy"...and now they say "establishing some form of Government that isn't a threat to us"...

4. If you figure it out...
...please send me a private message letting me know.

Actually, I think it's the oil, myself.

A little too simplistic, perhaps, but then there's really no other explanation that makes sense to me.

5. Just because *'s administration is packed with oil execs

and Cheney's task force studied maps of Iraqi oil fields, and because no other explanation makes much sense?

You must be a cynic!
