Mr. Gore's Blurred View - WPost YUK!
Really crappy editorial.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A39381-2003Aug9.html

"He's not the only Democrat who thinks he can have it both ways, pandering to anti-Bush passion while protecting his national-security flank. Sen. John Kerry has been trying something similar with, for example, this applause line, which he must know can only stoke isolationist sentiment: "We shouldn't be opening firehouses in Baghdad while closing them in Brooklyn." It would be possible to support firefighters in Brooklyn without questioning U.S. commitment to Iraq. Sen. Joe Lieberman has found plenty to criticize in the Bush administration foreign policy without abandoning his longstanding support of American strength and democracy promotion. It's an honorable position, and one that doesn't depend on portraying everyone else as poor saps duped by wizardly Bush propaganda. "

Methinks they're shilling for Lieberman, at best. :grr:

1. I have read that editorial three times and it still makes no sense
Something Gore said back in '98 forever precludes him from critisizing anything done with regard to Iraq. Sure, that makes sense. Only the WaPo editorial writers.
Ninety eight senators voted for the Patriot Act, including some Democrats, so that precludes Gore from voicing any critisism of it. Sure, that makes sense. Only to the WaPo editorial writers.
Someone in the world supports Bush's economic policies, unnamed, but they must be there, so Gore is precluded from critising Bush on economic matters. Sure, that makes sense. At least to the WaPo editorial writers.
I have evolved over the last few years to discredit anything I hear or read that was produced by an inside the beltway speaker or writer. D.C. has a bizarre, Alice in Wonderland quality that soon corrupts otherwise good minds into believing fluff matters more than substance. "It doesn't matter what you do! It matters what you LOOK like you do!" Bizarre.
