The Anointed, the Media, and Ronnie
<snip>

If Janet Reno had tried to get away with of such a blatant attempt at Contempt of Congress, we would have heard Rush Limbaugh doing the play by play at her crucifixion. Unfortunately over the last decade we have seen a Republican party that is more interested in investigating blowjobs than in upholding the law.

The American people deserve an Attorney General who will pursue and bring to trial those who commit crimes. Instead we have this religious zealot who is more interested in covering a bare breast on the statue of Lady Justice than he is in finding the "Anthrax Killer". He would rather lock up Tommy Chong for making marijuana paraphernalia, but has yet to investigate the short selling of stock on two of the airlines involved in September 11th. He had no problem investigating Paul O?Neill when he spoke against the Bush administration on the television show 60 Minutes, but had to be forced into investigating the outing of a CIA operative.

This infected testicle made a comment in front of congress that speaking out against the administration gives aid and comfort to the terrorists. This should have served as the red flag to the fascistic nature of this man but not only was he allowed to remain in his position there was not one administration official who denounced his statement.

The U.S.A. Patriot Act was a reactionary piece of legislation and is an attack on the freedom of the American people because it gives the government wide and relatively unrestricted powers. And since it was signed into law, Ashcroft has used those powers to satisfy the political agendas of the administration and the religious right. He has used his powers to incarcerate an American citizen without being charged with a crime and has not allowed him the benefit of council. I have no idea if Jose Padilla is guilty or not, but to deny this American the rights given to him in the constitution, has set a precedent that will not easily be overruled.
