NAFTA Fueling Drug Trade
The North American Free Trade Agreement was designed to allow goods and services to flow more freely between the U.S., Canada and Mexico, and it has worked. Unfortunately, many of the goods entering America from Canada are illegal drugs, the trafficking of which was made easier by the trade pact.

“With a billion dollars worth of cargo crossing the U.S.-Mexico border every day, free trade is one of the greatest gifts for drug traffickers,” John Burnett writes at NPR.com.

Many of the illegal drugs that make their way into the U.S. from Mexico are brought across the border in plain sight, in the form of commercial vehicles. Customs agents charged with inspecting those vehicles are overwhelmed at the border.

Since the passage of NAFTA 16 years ago, truck traffic through Laredo, Texas alone has tripled.

2. If that were true, we'd be swimming in really good weed.
Then again, maybe those living on the border are Bogarting all the good shit.

3. The first secret of commercial success
is to limit the supply. That keeps prices up. The DEA is a price-support mechanism for the cartels.
