Seattle P-I: "Just why was this a just war?"
Lead editorial today.

http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/opinion/178134_iraqed.html

snip...

"No liberation dances. No WMD. No supplying of WMD to terrorists, including al-Qaida. No link to 9/11. Why was it we went to war in Iraq?"

Short and to the point. Won't hold my breath waiting for the appointed murdering, liar or any of his ilk to admit to the lies.

1. I love the P-I
and really, fuck the Times. I hate that paper, haven't subscribed for years. I know the old P-I is not long for this world, but they kick ass when compared to old Fairview Fanny. :grr:

3. I really could not believe they endorsed this oily bloodbath
Haven't gone back to the Times since. I occasionally read articles from them posted here at DU but that is all. Blethen has to have his inheritance tax repealed at all costs, and many lives lost. Hope he chokes on his blood money.

Love the P-I as well.

Fairview Fanny...rotflmao on that one flamingyouth!

2. Gosh, all you newspaper people, one of the reasons we went
to war is because YOU GUYS WERE LYING DOWN ON THE JOB and have spent years fellating Bush and Co.!!!! You never asked those administration bastards any questions, and almost all of you downplayed the MILLIONS of people who took to the streets in protest before the war! You assholes!

7. Just vs Justified
This war was never a just war; but, always a war that could only be classified as a justified war for the difference between the two is necessity. For over two hundred years, it was the principle of this nation never to engage in a preemptive war and for good reason. Preemptive war, like preemptive crime where the end result is the ultimate punishment, could not be undone once done. Lives lost cannot be brought back and lives torn apart cannot be made whole again. That which was destroyed cannot be fully repaired. As a result, this country decided to engage only in wars of necessity and to have a doctrine of preemptive wars of necessity, the highest level of certainty must be achieved before engaging in such a war. The highest level being absolute certainty which is unachievable by mortal man.
The invasion of Iraq only verifies why the principle was established. What was thought to be justification for a necessary war turned out wrong. The level of certainty was never met nor could it. As a result we are where we are now in a quagmire of our own doing. We are in this mess because the leadership decided that the end justifies the means and that it is better for them to die than us. A combination of not having faith in the principles we believe in and playing the role of God in determining which innocent is to live and which is to die. As long as such arrogance is allowed to rule, then justified wars is all that we will have.
