Today's Whopper on Slate is another nail in the liar in chief's coffin.

The lie is obvious to anyone.

An ad that may be effective for a group like moveon.org would have video of Shrub saying, "This administration never said that the 9/11 attacks were orchestrated between Saddam and al Qaeda," from his news conference today with the juicy text from his letter to congress outlining the legal justification of the war.

see? There is a comma there. That means they can go after international terrorists and terrorists organizations not necessarily connected to 9/11.

2. The game they are playing.

Shrubby and company are playing word games. The phraseology used to promote the link between Al Qaeda and Iraq did so via implication rather than direct. This way, they can claim that they never explicitly made the connecting statement. There is no doubt that the Administration wished for those listening to make a link that did not exist and then be able to claim that they never explicitly made a connection. While they no longer make any attempt at linking the linkage to 11Sep01 (it is no longer fruitful to do so), they are still exaggerating the relationship to keep people on board with the occupation and to distract from the wrongness of what they did. There were contacts made at lower levels of government; but, none that bore any fruit or cooperation between the two parties. The jingoistic logic for including Iraq in the war on terrorism has now taken a slightly new twist. The argument now goes as follows: Both Saddam Hussein and Al Qaeda hated us; Both parties support terrorism; therefore, they were in link together. The last time I heard such poor logic from ill defined association what the example logic used by Fundamentalist Christians to describe the logic of those who do not or disbelieve in God. The logic goes something like this "Books are read"", "Red is symbolic of Communism"; therefore, "those who have read books are communists". A strange sort these people.

The Clinton impeachment was used to numb us, and dumb us down. The strategery worked!

5. Not numbness or dumbness

The road to impeachment is blocked by a lot more than a few as bad as the one to be impeached. Until power is reversed in Congress, impeachment will not occur. Hopefully, the one to impeach will be impeached at the ballot box in November making the point moot; however, high crimes and treason can be brought to bear even when the office term has expired as well as charges for war crimes.
