WikiLeaks cables: Saudi princes throw parties boasting drink, drugs and sex
Royals flout puritanical laws to throw parties for young elite while religious police are forced to turn a blind eye

In what may prove a particularly incendiary cable, US diplomats describe a world of sex, drugs and rock'n'roll behind the official pieties of Saudi Arabian royalty.

Jeddah consulate officials described an underground Halloween party, thrown last year by a member of the royal family, which broke all the country's Islamic taboos. Liquor and prostitutes were present in abundance, according to leaked dispatches, behind the heavily-guarded villa gates.

The party was thrown by a wealthy prince from the large Al-Thunayan family. The diplomats said his identity should be kept secret. A US energy drinks company also put up some of the finance.

"Alcohol, though strictly prohibited by Saudi law and custom, was plentiful at the party's well-stocked bar. The hired Filipino bartenders served a cocktail punch using sadiqi, a locally-made moonshine," the cable said. "It was also learned through word-of-mouth that a number of the guests were in fact 'working girls', not uncommon for such parties."

The dispatch from the US partygoers, signed off by the consul in Jeddah, Martin Quinn, added: "Though not witnessed directly at this event, cocaine and hashish use is common in these social circles."

1. Machivelians is how they rationalize that if true.
Or they think the rules are only for other people they think of as fools.

And if they did, or did not do those things that would not be the point, they tell others what they should do based on a claim of spiritual edict, without having an argument for it. And if they do those things, they know it.

And back to the only unforgivable action, mentioned in text, also why I don't make that claim, and think every person should figure out what is of better and worse, and why I believe in thinking feeling people, and education so they can figure that out.

And believe in diversity so people can learn from each other, knowing better thoughts will spread over worse ones.

2. Around the world and in every country it is true
One set of rules for the poor and one set for the rich and powerful. And the blind faithful bleat on.

3. Go figure

I've never been on Wikileaks, so I unsuccessfully tried to find it. Just curios.

4. After this public revelation, would these absurd laws be enforced more or less?
The truth is always a good thing.

I have attended parties like this. Laws are intended to control the less powerful.
It goes on in this country. Don't kid yourself.

6. This is news?
Of course, those at "The Top" don't go by the rules they set for everyone else.

Those rules are put in place to control the masses for the rulers' benefit.
They want your labor, your ability to be fodder for whatever machine, then they want you to make babies for more labor & fodder.

Murder is not illegal because the rulers care about your safety.
Murder is illegal because it strips more labor from the workforce, robs a particular machine of its fodder, & could be contagious possibly spreading to the rulers themselves (bloodlust).

Anything the rulers think interferes with the machine they set up, they outlaw.
These things change upon time & region depending on what they want from the rest of the populace.

Understand this if nothing else: The "Rulers" believe that the "Others'" only purpose is to help produce their personal paradise.
It's just human beings with bizarre egos thinking the entire world is theirs. That's all it has ever been about from the beginning of time for humankind.
But by definition they're outnumbered...thus all of these mind games & weaponly threats.
