Christian Air Force Officer Vows to Violate Military Regulations if DADT is Repealed
Saying that his "commitment to God supersedes commitment to the DOD," Air Force Lt. Col. Stacy L. Maxey has publicly vowed to violate military regulations and his oath to the U.S. Constitution if DADT is repealed. In a letter published by Stars and Stripes, Lt. Col. Maxey claims that it would be hypocritical that he would "be free to express myself if I'm a homosexual, but not if I'm a Christian."

Here's Lt. Col. Maxey's letter:

Won't choose to 'deal with it'

STARS AND STRIPES
Letters to the Editor, December 15, 2010

So let me see if I understand this: The Defense Department is proposing to let people who choose to live a homosexual lifestyle serve "openly" in the armed forces (per the Dec. 2 article "DADT study group: Full integration is best"), but won't allow Christians such as myself the freedom to "openly" share the good news of Christ with our co-workers -- as the faith we've chosen requires?

Well there you have it. The new fundie filth plan. If DADT is repealed the Taliban gets to attack people with their phony faith!

If they're going to let them do that then they should give the troops the right to defend themselves from terrorism.

45. Jesus would have dropkicked this guy
I'm not a Christian but I have read the Bible and, far as I can tell, Jesus was one of the first liberals. OK, he was a man of his time and didn't get everything exactly right but he preached caring for the sick and poor (numerous examples), tolerance and loving the outcast (the Samaritan) and church/state seperation ("Render unto Caesar").

12. He should resign his commission immediately
Because he swore an oath to the United States of America, and he more then likely swore in God's name.

So, I guess when he took his oath he forgot this: "But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne"

He swore an oath and he did it in the name of God, if he breaks that oath, he is condemned, and someone should remind him of that.

But, being a Pagan, I defer to my Christian brothers and sisters on how this should be interpreted.

11. Well Lt. Col. Stacy L. Maxey better not:
Eat any shrimp or shellfish
walk in a plowed field w/ bare feet
wear a leather belt w/ a cotton shirt

BTW Lt. Col. Stacy L. Maxey might want to check out the total # of times Jesus mentioned "the gays"*
or that 11 of the 12 disciples were not married.

* the # of times Jesus talked about "the gays" was zero.

convert others to their beliefs, nor do I see them putting those beliefs above their loyalty to their fellow soldiers' welfare.

This guy's picture MUST be in the dictionary next to the words "arrogant asshole"

When I hear stories about guys like this, I always think of "Dr Strangelove" and Gen. Jack D. Ripper and his "vital fluids"

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0057012/quotes

" General Jack D. Ripper: Mandrake, do you recall what Clemenceau once said about war?

Group Capt. Lionel Mandrake: No, I don't think I do, sir, no.

General Jack D. Ripper: He said war was too important to be left to the generals. When he said that, 50 years ago, he might have been right. But today, war is too important to be left to politicians. They have neither the time, the training, nor the inclination for strategic thought. I can no longer sit back and allow Communist infiltration, Communist indoctrination, Communist subversion and the international Communist conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids. 15. So, when he took is Service Oath, was he lying?
If he can't follow orders from his Commander-In-Chief or obey the law, then he should resign. Period. Assuming he has any honor, that is.

23. The honorable thing for a commissioned officer to do is resign his/her
commission if he/she can't live with a decision made by higher authority. But that might mean he wouldn't get paid. And this gives him publicity. So much for honor.

24. If I were in the armed forces and under his command and God happened to create me gay,
if this wonderful of Christian Soldiers were behind me giving me cover and he knew I was gay, would he say a prayer as he used friendly fire to kill me, or would he just not do his best to cover me as a sniper shot me in the head? Gay people are born that way, like it or not it is what it is. He chose his form of Christianity and his own interpretation of such and now wants to break his oath to this country because he hates gay people. Oh God! I'll pray that he is happy in the religion he has chosen and his right to hate under it.

28. I'm glad he qualified that with "Christians SUCH AS MYSELF"...
Because Christians such as MYself recognize no such "requirement" in our faith. We recognize only the requirement to live our lives as much like Christ as we can manage, and try to treat others as we believe Christ would treat them.

This new religion of "Christians SUCH AS HIMSELF" appears to be a bit, uh... oppressive.

dismissively,
Bright

People don't choose to be homosexual, but they are free to choose their faith.
This joker is full of shit and should be court martialed, convicted ant thrown in federal prison. A little time in the Gray Bar Hotel and License Plate Factory would be suitable penance.

44. Military personnel are quite able to *share* their beliefs
As long as they do it when they don't have duties to do, and as long as it really is 'sharing' - saying something that the other person is interested in hearing, and has not been coerced in any way into listening to. I highly suspect this Air Force Lt. Col. forces his beliefs on his subordinates, and at inappropriate moments.
