7. I wonder how much stock he received in the buy-out.
Our Kaiser facility in San Rafael is absolutely teeming with young people in chairs and on crutches (the Lucky Ones).

It simultaneously breaks my heart and drives me into a red rage.

Private Security Contractors Head to Gulf

Thursday, September 8, 2005

Companies in the Gulf Coast area hit by Hurricane Katrina are turning to an unusual source to protect people and property rendered vulnerable by the storm's damage -- private security contractors that specialize in supporting military operations in war-torn countries such as Iraq and Afghanistan.

We have the National Guard, FBI, State, County and Local Police but we have to call in private contractors whom answer to nobody $800 a day to protect people. WTF

9. Taxpayers Paying Torture Contractors' Legal Bills
Taxpayers Paying Torture Contractors' Legal Bills $5 Million

Taxpayers are currently paying the legal bills for Jim Mitchell and Bruce Jessen, two CIA contractors who reportedly helped plan and execute the Bush administration's "enhanced interrogation" program, the Associated Press' Adam Goldman and Matt Apuzzo reported Thursday night. The CIA agreed to pay up to $5 million to cover legal fees for the two men—far more than the standard amount that would be covered for employees of the agency (during the Bush administration, it was standard practice for CIA officers to pay half of the cost of insuring themselves against possible legal action).

(The Bush administration reportedly paid them between $1,000 and $2,000 per day to do it.) Do It is Torture!

11. why isn't there a law against this?
Someone who has had top security clearance shouldn't be able to hire out to private operations.
