Pentagon's Christmas Present: Largest Military Budget Since World War II
On December 22 both houses of the U.S. Congress unanimously passed a bill authorizing $725 billion for next year's Defense Department budget.

The bill, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2011, was approved by all 100 senators as required and by a voice vote in the House.

The House had approved the bill, now sent to President Barack Obama to sign into law, five days earlier in a 341-48 roll call, but needed to vote on it again after the Senate altered it in the interim.

The proposed figure for the Pentagon's 2011 war chest includes, in addition to the base budget, $158.7 billion for what are now euphemistically referred to as overseas contingency operations: The military occupation of Iraq and the war in Afghanistan.

4. We really need those $35,000 rifles and $500M patrol boats
to kill the hundred or so AK-47 carrying cavemen. It is a herculean effort.

5. Well, they're doing a heck of a job.
After the new Pearl Harbor, the Pentagon effectively shot America in the foot with two idiotic wars and we still aren't any safer.

9. Excuse me, but Obama expanded the wars to three when he included Pakistan. Now, the pentagon wants
to go into Pakistan on the ground in pursuit of Al Qaeda. Soon war will include Iran.

7. Where is the tea party?
I thought they opposed big government spending, you would think they would be holding massive rallies to demonstrate against this. It is very interesting how spending only seems to be bad when it helps the less fortunate, when it is used to increase the stock options of military contractors however spending suddenly doesn't seem to be a problem for them any more.

8. Fox didn't tell them to do it. They're sheeple. They don't think. They follow orders.
Or maybe there are some baggers protesting, but they're learning how the media blackouts anything not useful to the 1%.
