War Room
Doubting Sarah
By Justin Elliott

http://www.salon.com/news/2012_elections/index.html?story=/politics/war_room/2010/12/24/palin_gop_criticism

Sarah Palin is widely considered to be a leading candidate for the 2012 GOP presidential nomination. And while an October story in Politico made a splash (and drew Palin's wrath) by quoting anonymous Republican "insiders" attacking Palin, we've noticed a different, striking pattern in recent weeks: More and more prominent Republicans are publicly voicing doubts about Palin.

When you gather together, as we have below, the recent criticisms and misgivings voiced by Republican operatives, politicians and commentators, it becomes clear that Palin, if she has presidential ambitions, has a serious obstacle to overcome even within her own party. It also suggests that Palin would perhaps not be the powerhouse front-runner of a GOP primary that some have made her out to be.

Here's a look at the recent criticism, in reverse chronological order:

Jonathan Tobin, Commentary editor, Dec. 17:

Everything she does and says lately seems geared toward reinforcing the negative opinion of that 60 percent already convinced that she isn’t qualified to be the commander in chief ...

So, rather than taunting people like Krauthammer, who merely said aloud what so many others are thinking about her unpresidential demeanor, maybe Sarah Palin ought to be waking up to the fact that she is simply unelectable.

Peter Wehner, former Bush administration official, Dec. 17:

Virtually every time Ms. Palin speaks out, she reinforces some of the worst impressions or deepest concerns many of us have about her. If she were to become the voice and representative of the GOP and the modern conservatism movement, both would suffer a massive rejection.

Sarah Palin will not be elected president; and for her sake, I hope she decides not to run.

1. Best possible scenario
IMO, the best thing that could happen is if the Wasilla Quitta launches a third-party candidacy, siphoning votes away from the anointed repug. If anyone believes differently, please let me know.

9. Then here's hoping the GOOPers piss off Caribou Barbie good & proper
while kicking her to the curb. The woman runs on venom & spite, so I hope the repugs deliver a smack-down she won't soon forget. She'll be out for blood against whoever gets the official nod, and her cretinous followers will eat it up.

12. And believe it or not...
...that ticket has been floated over at Free Republic. They've posted Photoshopped campaign stickers with photos of the two of them together. So no matter how crazy our imagination, their "reality" will outdo us every time...guaranteed.

5. "Sarah Palin is widely considered to be a leading candidate"
As most of the comments on the above article state, she is only thought of as a "leading candidate" by her close circle of friends/family and the died-in-tea birther clown crowd.

But that won't stop her visage from being waved in the public's face for the next two years.

6. and sadly, she is making a small fortune out of all this bullsh^t.
She is nothing more than a grifter. She will scam all her followers, and then disappear into the night with all her money.
The true scam artist knows that the best scam is when the mark does not even realize they are being scammed until it is way to late...or better yet, they NEVER realize it.

10. Their strategy should be to use her only as a campaign tool.
Edited on Sat Dec-25-10 10:09 AM by OneTenthofOnePercent
They need to select a candidate that more moderate Republicans will vote for (like Mitt Romney) and have Sarah Palin push for him hard on the campaign trail (and maybe throw Palin a cabinet seat as a bone or something). Mitt Romney, a New England governor, is an easy sell to centrists and moderate Republicans whereas Palin can whip up support from the Tea Party districts because all those guys jizz in their pants every time they see her.

The Republican should actually work hard at keeping Palin OUT of certain districts and keep somewhat of a muzzle on her. She has too much of a batshit-crazy wingnut stigma to feed to a majority of the electorate. The nuttier and more devisive Palin becomes before the election, the more valuable tool she is for the Republicans... but she'll have to also be managed better as well because she could hurt them as a loose cannon if they don't keep a leash.

14. Her retirement won't last long.
She will go thru the money she has ill-gotten and need more within year.
She is a huge Moose-take.

15. If she does manage to win the GOP nomination
the bloodletting once her people take over the party machinery will be awesome to behold. And delightful.

17. Any way, she sinks them
It is certain that she will do something to take advantage of the opportunity to get exposure and rake in some bucks. She has no loyalty and doesn't care if she damages the Republicans in the course of aggrandizing herself. If she doesn't seek the nomination she will assuredly do something else to draw attention, which is sure to piss off the teabaggers if the Republicans try to do anything remotely sane to lure independent voters. And without the teabaggers, the Republicans can't win a national election even with lots of independent support. And if she does seek and get the nomination, she will not only lose the general election by a huge landslide it will probably finish the ongoing disintegration of the Republican party itself.

19. Maybe...just like farmers who get paid to not grow certain crops
Hadn't thought of that...between her payoff for not running and four more years of ghost-written books, reality shows, speaking engagements and screeching "CAW! CAW! CAW!" from her perch, she stands to make an even bigger killing than the one she's making now.

Before George Walker Bush jr, I would doubt a person like Sarah Palin would have a chance in hell to be elected presiden in USA... After the 8 year nightmare who was Bush jr, Im not that sure anymore... When US first "elected" the doof once. and then woted him into office again 4 year later, even tho he was proven to be a nuclear disaster from day one...

What I fear, is tha enough americans would wote for that woman.. Nothing is "off the table" to say it that way, when it came to the idiotcy of the american electrional public.. You often seen to fail to understand when people is lying true their noses to be elected... It is amazing US have not have worse leaders than they have had.. But you really was near the bottom with Bush.. With Palin you would really be near the bottom of the barrel..
