Michael Moore’s Fahrenheit 9/11 comes under right-wing attack

http://www.wsws.org/articles/2004/jun2004/fahr-j21.shtml

<snip>

US filmmaker Michael Moore’s new documentary Fahrenheit 9/11, scheduled to open in more than 500 theaters on June 25, has come under fierce attack from right-wing Republican elements. The campaign against the film, which harshly criticizes the Bush administration’s response to the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, is an indication of the sensitivity of the cabal in the White House to any light being shed on its activities.

...

Moore also notes that “some very sophisticated individuals have been hacking into and shutting down our website. It is an hourly fight to keep it up. We are going to find out who is doing this and we are going to pursue a criminal prosecution.”

...

Good article, especially the last paragraph, but I won't ruin it for you. Go read it for yourself.

2. Thanks
That was a great read!
I really love the fact Moore has an instant response team to react to the right wing bull that will try to make the film out to be all lies.

5. The Right-Wingers are scared shitless
I've been in some yahoo chatrooms and they've been cursing moore all week. They havent even seen the movie yet. Its almost like Bush is infallible and beyond criticism to them.

OK, we had national unity after the 9/11 attacks, and i guess the right-wingers wish it never had gone away.

Michael Moore as every right to express his constitutionlly gauranteed right of free speech.

As Thomas Jefferson, the godfather of the Democratic Party once said, it is patriotic to dissent against the government. I'm going on friday night.

3. ....
About the MPAA rating the movie "R",

"I want all teenagers to see this film. There is nothing in the film in terms of violence that we didn't see on TV every night at the dinner hour during the Vietnam War. Of course, that's the point, isn't it? The media have given the real footage from Iraq a 'cleansing'-made it look nice, easy to digest.... I trust all of you teenagers out there will find your way into a theater to see this movie..." This paragraph gave me a chuckle.

4. 451-911
Wonder if they put Ray Bradbury up to his copyright-infringement issue. For anyone who hasn't seen that yet, he's not too thrilled with Moore borrowing his title. "It's my book, and my title!" he says
