Palin: America out of step with Reagan's values
Source: AP

By MICHAEL R. BLOOD

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (AP) - America is on a "road to ruin" because of misguided policies in Washington and needs to get back in step with the values of Ronald Reagan, Sarah Palin said at an event honoring the former president's legacy.

The 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee delivered a stinging critique of Washington during her speech Friday, part of the national celebration marking the centennial of Reagan's birth on Feb. 6.

Revisiting themes familiar from her 2008 campaign, she said the nation was being shackled by high debt and taxes, dense government regulation and rising spending, often for programs that don't work. She said a rush toward green energy was overlooking the nation's oil and natural gas reserves, a choice that will cost jobs and drive up pump prices.

She blamed Washington leaders - an apparent reference to the Obama administration - for doing "everything in their power to stymie responsible domestic drilling."

The man, the myth, the asshole. Thank Goodness was EXACTLY my initial reaction. What a terrible 8 years with the ramifications still f--ing up the country and the world (i.e. Central America).

I hate to kick dirt on the grave of your rotting idol, but the values of Ronald Reagan led to the largest increase in national debt in the history of the country - well until George W. Bush took office.

Throughout Reagan's two terms as president, the national debt grew by almost two trillion dollars. Prior to his taking office, collectively, the national debt didn't accumulate to even a trillion dollars from FDR's final term to Carter's.

Think about that for a second, Wasilla Snookie.

Prior to your hero taking office, the national debt had yet to even hit a trillion dollars throughout eight presidents. Then your hero entered office and the national debt ballooned.

Reagan was not fiscally responsible - at least no more than a drunk on the town using your money.

But you keep dreamin' baby cakes.

6. LOL
At first I thought you were referring to Palin when you said "rotting idol".

It's funny because to me, it is quite true.

12. It's kind of funny
For years, I would listen to preachers and other right wingers say that America was out of step with God's values. I guess the Republicans decided to elevate Reagan's values are more important.

16. Palin should look within her own family values. Her daughter had a child out of wedlock and
she allowed Levi to sleepover. Her oldest son was druggie and went into the military because he got in trouble with the law. I don't think she knows what family values are. She cheated on her husband and he has cheated on her. I'd say she and her family aren't living up to anyone's family values.

17. Is she saying Reagan is Mubarak and we should march lockstep
with a person who set our country on the path to disaster.

All these pictures and flag wavings remind me of the
ME. They are dictators. Is this how the GOP want
us to be.
